What do you consider to be local flowers?

We’re seven years into our flower farming journey, and one of the toughest parts of growing local flowers is the mis-marketing around geography.

And maybe it’s time for an honest conversation.

In the middle of farm-grown flower season, what do you consider “local”?

Are flowers grown more than 30km away still local? What about 60km? And does it matter to you?

Our farm blooms from February until late November.

Any florists we supply are located within a 30km radius of the farm.

Because WE believe local matters.

💐 Seed Saving for Zinnias 💐

This year we planted mostly seed we had saved from last season’s zinnia crop.

The goal?

Find new, interesting varieties that will be unique to us.

Some of these look identical to their parent plants. But some of the varieties have really complex colour stories that I’m excited to focus on as the season goes on.

The genetics of plants are forever fascinating.
