Handcrafted Orthodox Christian Educational Toys Orthodox Toys is a Canadian educational toy maker. We use Canadian Red Western Cedar wood to build these toys. We also use Olive Wood harvested in Bethlehem.

Orthodox Toys is a Canadian family missionary project creating handcrafted wooden educational toys and books that help children and families learn about the Orthodox Christian Faith and Church traditions. Our goal is to create handcrafted wooden toys that children can play with while learning about Orthodox Church, faith, Holy Land, and Orthodox traditions. This wood is well-known as one of the most beautiful, durable and fragrant wood species in Canada. These toys are amazing gifts for kids and also ideal for Orthodox Church Sunday schools.

Today, I am making icon boards for Saints Spyridon and Nicodemus, the prosphora bakers of the Kiev Caves Monastery.

But these are not ordinary boards!

I am using an old red western cedar from the old iconostasis of our St. Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church.

I thought it would be wonderful to give this beautiful wood a new life. For many years, it was part of our church, and now it will become the foundation for new icons.
