September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. A day to honour the Survivors of residential schools, those that did not return home, their families and communities.

Today we encourage our community to take time to learn, reflect and listen to Indigenous voices. Reconciliation is an ongoing journey, and we are committed to being a part of it.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Book-Loving Community📚💚

We’re overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who supported The Book Corner. Together and 3,200 books later, we have donated $64,721 to The Surrey Fire Fighters Charitable Society - with 100% of proceeds going directly to programs that transform young lives across Surrey.

Your passion for reading has opened new chapters of possibility for youth in our community, including:

📚 8x library investment – The Book Corner has increased Surrey Libraries’ annual funding commitment through the SFFCS by eightfold, significantly enhancing community access to books and literacy resources.

🖊️ Full program funding – The Book Corner has fully funded The City of Surrey Youth Grants, investing in the next generation of community leaders.

🍎 Nutritious futures – By surpassing all fundraising benchmarks, additional funds raised will support the SFFCS Snack Program, ensuring children who arrive at school hungry receive nutritious meals and snacks.

Together, we’ve raised vital funds, promoted accessible literacy for local families, and reinforced a powerful truth: when our community comes together at Guildford Town Centre, incredible things happen.

Happy reading! 📖✨
