CPAP is one of the most effective treatments for sleep apnea, and it works very well for many of our patients. But everyone is different, and some people find the mask hard to get used to.

If that's been your experience, you haven't failed, and you're not out of options.

An oral appliance is a custom-made mouthpiece, worn like a sports guard, that gently holds the lower jaw forward to help keep your airway open. It's often recommended for mild to moderate sleep apnea, or when CPAP hasn't been the right fit after a fair trial.

Our team will look at your sleep test results and your experience so far, and help you find the treatment you can stick with. That's what matters most.

Struggling with CPAP? Don't stop treatment on your own. Call 604-372-4000 and let's talk about your options.

If one of you has moved to the couch or the spare room because of snoring, you're far from alone.

Separate rooms can feel like the only way to get some rest. But loud, regular snoring is often more than a noise problem. It can be a sign of sleep apnea, a common and treatable condition where breathing briefly stops during sleep.

The good news: when snoring is treated, many couples find their way back to the same room, and both people wake up more rested.

If you've been the one listening, you're often the first to notice the signs. Starting the conversation is an act of care, not a complaint.

Share this with your partner, then call 604-372-4000 to book a consultation together.

Full plates, full house, and hopefully, a full night's sleep. 🍂

Holiday weekends are for gathering, but they can throw sleep off track, especially if you snore or have sleep apnea. A few simple habits help:

✔️ Finish your big meal 2–3 hours before bed so your body isn't busy digesting when you lie down
✔️ Go easy on w**e and drinks late in the evening. Alcohol relaxes the throat muscles and can make snoring worse
✔️ Keep your usual bedtime as much as you can
✔️ Staying with family? Pack your CPAP and supplies so you don't miss a night

From all of us at SleepWorks, happy Thanksgiving to our patients and neighbours across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. We're grateful to be part of your community.

Save this for the long weekend. If snoring is the uninvited guest at every gathering, call 604-372-4000 after the holiday to book a consultation.

Diagnosed with sleep apnea, or wondering what treatment would look like? Here are the two main options, in plain language.

CPAP therapy: A small bedside machine sends a gentle, steady flow of air through a mask to keep your airway open while you sleep. It's often recommended for moderate to severe sleep apnea. We work with ResMed equipment, and every patient starts with a fitted mask and two weeks of remote monitoring so we can fine-tune your comfort.

Oral appliance: A custom-made mouthpiece, worn like a sports guard, that holds your lower jaw slightly forward to keep your airway open. It's often recommended for mild to moderate sleep apnea, or for people who find CPAP isn't the right fit.

Which one is right for you depends on your sleep test results, your comfort and your lifestyle. That's a conversation we have together.

Save this for later, and call 604-372-4000 to book a consultation and find the option that fits you.

"It's just snoring." Maybe. But maybe not.

Occasional snoring is common and often nothing to worry about. But snoring that's loud, happens most nights, or comes with pauses in breathing, gasping or choking can be a sign of obstructive sleep apnea.

With sleep apnea, the airway repeatedly narrows or closes during sleep. Your body briefly wakes to reopen it, often without you remembering, which is why you can spend eight hours in bed and still wake up exhausted.

Here's the reassuring part: once it's identified, there are effective, comfortable treatment options, and most people notice a real difference in their energy, focus and mood.

Not sure if your snoring is "just snoring"? Call 604-372-4000 to book a consultation and get a clear answer.

Lying awake listening to them snore? You might be the first to notice something important.

Bed partners often spot the signs of sleep apnea long before the person snoring does. Listen for:

🔹 Pauses where their breathing seems to stop
🔹 Gasping, choking or snorting sounds
🔹 Loud snoring most nights of the week

Bringing it up can feel awkward, so make it a conversation about both of you. Choose a relaxed moment during the day, not at 2 AM. Lead with care: "I want us both to sleep better." Then offer to look into it together.

Many of the people we see come in because someone who loves them encouraged them to. You're not complaining. You're looking out for them.

Send this to someone who needs to hear it, then call 604-372-4000 to book a consultation together.

Tired all the time? It might not be your schedule.

Fall in the Lower Mainland brings darker mornings and busier calendars, so it's easy to blame both for feeling worn out. But if you're sleeping a full night and still dragging, your sleep itself may be the problem.

Here are five signs worth paying attention to:
1️⃣ Waking up with headaches
2️⃣ Brain fog that no amount of coffee clears
3️⃣ A dry mouth or sore throat in the morning
4️⃣ Getting up to use the washroom several times a night
5️⃣ A partner who has noticed loud snoring, gasping or pauses in your breathing

Any one of these can have many causes. Together, they can point to sleep apnea, a common and very treatable condition that often goes unnoticed for years.

The good news: finding out is simple, and our team is here to guide you from the first conversation onward.

Recognize two or more? Call 604-372-4000 to book your consultation. 💙

Myth: sleep apnea only affects older, overweight men.

Fact: we see it in women, in slim adults, and in children. The shape of your jaw and airway matters just as much as your weight — which is exactly why so many people go untested for years.

If you snore, wake up tired, or your partner has noticed you stop breathing, get checked. Age and size are not the screening test.

Most people with sleep apnea have no idea they have it.

Up to 80% of moderate to severe cases are never diagnosed — which means years of broken sleep, morning headaches and daytime fatigue written off as “just being busy.”

A home sleep test takes one night, in your own bed. That’s all it takes to stop guessing.
