The owner, Shayla, is a mother of two girls with a passion for art and events. She graduated with her Event Management Diploma from the Art Institute of Vancouver in 2013. Since then she has pursued a career in the events industry by working for various events throughout the Lower Mainland of BC. Shayla’s Sweet Treats was established in January 2015 after she took over a previously owned chocolate
business. She had seen the business for sale and realized that it aligned with her passions and experience while also allowing her a creative outlet for her art. During the past 7 years, Shayla has learned many different techniques and methods of producing her custom chocolates. She has watched many cupcake and cookie decorating videos and adapted those techniques to work with chocolate. The average custom chocolate takes 40 minutes to create from start to finish and range in price from $2.00-$2.50 each. They last for 3 months and do not need to be refrigerated and are a product which may contain nuts. The chocolates are great for party favours for events such as birthdays, holiday parties, class treats, bachelor/bachelorettes, weddings, and can even be used on top of cakes or cupcakes! Shayla can create chocolates based on hundreds of molds that she has, or create completely custom hand drawn ones including almost any colours to match your theme perfectly.
