Since 1963 Black Bond Books has grown as a proud independent Canadian bookseller offering fast personal order service with no added costs and you can expect outstanding customer service whether in person or online www.blackbondbooks.com. Madeline Neill assumed management of the Brandon store in the mid 1960's, and the company has never looked back. The name was derived from the combination of Celi
a Black and Catherine Bond, the great grandmothers of current President and daughter of Madeline, Cathy Jesson. Cathy joined Madeline in the running of the Brandon store, eventually taking over management in 1972 when Madeline moved to the BC coast. The first BC location was opened in White Rock that same year. Madeline eventually coaxed Cathy and her family to move to the coast in 1977 where Cathy opened their second location in Langley. Making it a true family operation, Madeline's other children, Vicky Plett and Michael Neill, joined the company in ensuing years. This allowed for further growth of the business with locations opening around the Lower Mainland. In May 2012, the original Book Warehouse location on Broadway and Ash was ready to close its doors permanently. Cathy and Mel felt this store was just too special to lose, and after looking at the business plans it was clear that Book Warehouse was a strong business with much customer support. With their daughter and third generation bookseller Caitlin Jesson at the helm, Book Warehouse was re-opened after only five days of renovation and is still going strong. With the success of the Broadway location, a second Book Warehouse store was opened at Main and King Edward. From our small beginning in Brandon to our now 7 Lower Mainland locations, Black Bond booksellers enjoy sharing their favourites and putting the right book in your hands, either for yourself or a special gift. Our love of books is the kind that knows no bounds.
