We’re bringing back a community-led Education & Advocacy Committee to help guide our platform, support or plan events throughout the year, and build stronger networks of support. Whether you’re a seasoned advocate or new and curious to learn more, your voice, ideas, and presence are welcome & wanted!

Join us for an informal gathering to connect, brainstorm, and decide together what comes next.

• 5:30 PM - 6:00 PM: Social & Mingling Time
• 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM: Community Launch & Visioning Meeting

📍 WHERE: On The Same Page (311 Charlotte St, Downtown Sydney)

*Please note that On the Same Page will remain open to the public until 6PM*

✨ EVENT DETAILS:
• Ages: 16+
• Masking will be required for this meeting. We will have some masks available if you don't have your own
• Refreshments provided | coffee & tea from Doktor Luke's Coffee House & cookies from Leaf.Loaf.Lore ✨an enchanted experience ✨

Community has requested we having masking for this event to allow for full participation of immunocompromised community members. Masking will be required for this meeting to meet this need! Committee can discuss these options for future meetings and planning.

For future meetings, we may explore alternative locations:
• Meeting outdoors / open-air spaces in warmer months
• Virtual / Hybrid meetings during colder or snowier months
• Requiring masking in small indoor venues
• Larger indoor venues with space for distancing and good air filtration & ventilation

🌈 Announcing Our 2026 Pride Parade Grand Marshals! 🌈

We are beyond thrilled to announce that Mads & Kat, founders and owners of On the Same Page, will be leading the way as our 2026 Pride Parade Grand Marshals!✨

Both Mads and Kat grew up right here in Cape Breton. Their story started back in 2022 while working together at a local coffee shop where they met and fell in love. Fast forward to June 2025, they turned a shared dream into reality by opening On the Same Page in the heart of downtown Sydney.

Since opening their doors, Mads and Kat have built far more than a bookstore. They’ve cultivated a vital, vibrant, and welcoming hub for community. As a proud q***r-owned business, On the Same Page provides a safe, supportive space for 2SLGBTQIA+ folks, allies, and book lovers of all kinds. From hosting bustling q***r artisan markets to holding book launches and author meet-and-greets celebrating 2SLGBTQIA+ literature, their dedication to uplifting local voices and creating connection shines through everything they do.

It's that time of year! Registration for the 2026 Pride Parade is open and free to any individual, group, business, or organization wishing to participate. The 2026 parade will be held on Saturday August 8th, 2026. Line up will take place at 10am on George Street. Parade starts at 12pm. Please register at the following link:

When you step into On The Same Page in downtown Sydney you'll find a warm, inviting space enjoyed by everyone who loves to read.

In June of last year, Mads and Kat took ownership of the shop. They rebranded to On The Same Page, giving the beloved local spot a fresh chapter. Around the same time, they became a commercial member of Sydney Credit Union.

For Mads and Kat, it's about more than selling books. It's about building a place where the community can gather, discover something new, and feel right at home. We're proud to support local entrepreneurs like Mads and Kat who pour their hearts into their business.
