They say that Spring is the season of change. I agree and I hope you'll understand.
Eight years ago when I opened the doors at Storeybook's Spinning a Yarn, I did so thinking it would be my way of passing on a wonderful craft. I hope I have inspired you.
In these years, I've experienced so many of life's milestones with you: Births, graduations, home visits from college kids, cancer treatment, relocating to new homes and jobs, losing family members and friends, weddings, dealing with aging parents and so much more. Through it all, we find that fiber comforts and makes us feel useful and productive.
Our shop has seen birthday cakes, trunk shows, tears, and more chocolate than it probably should! It has also been witness to many ah-ha moments for you as well as me. All the things many of you taught me, thank you.
Shoppe Trivia: do you remember how we started with classes in the small shoppe? Do you remember when I started teaching in the kitchen so we'd have more room and more light and recently, I expanded into my livingroom? Were you here during a solar dye workshop and Susan went home with more dye on her than the yarn? I have many wonderful memories and many of you have become friends. I thank you all for the time, the memories, the laughs and the tears. I will take them all with me and enjoy them time and time again.
I thought that this would be my retirement job. It is. I just can't imagine not working. I also can't imagine life without the community of really wonderful fiber folks that has grown around the shoppe. I will still be available to help. But... this story has come to an end. With a sad heart and some misgivings, I am ready to close the book. July 2, Storeybook's Spinning a Yarn will close its' doors.
Thank you, all, for eight wonderful years
