If you’re after some walleye this long weekend, make sure to have a few hair jigs with ya 😉. The key to success is to find some good green weeds as the bait that the walleye feed on will be near by, and so will the walleye! Any black coloured bucktail jig or a perch colour is a great choice. If you’re getting out on the water this long weekend, all the best and catch some big ones!

As the water temps slowly rise and the smallmouth start to push shallow in preparation to spawn, a marabou jig is a very effective method to put lots of smallmouth and some big ones in the boat.

Using a long Medium light power rod and light line helps to cast these little jigs that weight very light a far distance.

Walleye season is quickly approaching here in
Ontario, and you’re missing out if you don’t have a hair jig tied on. Ripping a Banana Head bucktail jig thru the weeds is one the best ways to catch em. If your hair jig box is looking low, shoot me a message and we can fill that box up in time for opener 👊

Great Lakes Smallmouth LOVE gobies and if you want to show em something a little different than your typical goby style baits, toss on a Rock Dawg in Green Pumpkin Purple Copper and add on your favourite Ned Rig bait on the back, and you’re set!
