Have you heard the word obesegen before? It’s something that can promote obesity.
I’ve shared some videos Norwex has provided with Dr. Bruce Lanphear, a pediatrician & researcher at Simon Fraser University in BC. If you’d like more of them, just let me know.
Thankfully, this research is now being done all over the world.
This article is a quick 4 minute read.
But will make you think for much longer than that.🔗 https://www.healio.com/news/endocrinology/20210928/interventions-needed-to-reduce-exposure-to-obesitypromoting-chemicals
“𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲-𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝘀.𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗯𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀, according to Leonardo Trasande, MD, MPP, the Jim G. Hendrick Professor of Pediatrics, vice chair for pediatric and director of environmental pediatrics, and professor of environmental medicine and population health at the New York University School of Medicine.
Exposure to chemicals that increase risk for obesity and cardiometabolic diseases {📝side note from me….yes, these chemicals also increase your risk of blockage in your blood vessels, high cholesterol, diabetes!} with repeat exposure plays just as important of a role in the development of obesity as diet and physical activity. However, while diet and physical activity interventions can be difficult to maintain, Trasande said, people can take easy action steps to reduce exposure to these obesogens.”
So in summary, small repeated exposures to certain common chemicals in our daily life can lead to obesity, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. Starting in childhood. 🤯😢😡
I started using Norwex 10+ years ago to eliminate harmful chemicals from my home for my kids sake. I had no idea how important those changes really were.
Besides health, consider the financial impacts. Eliminating that white BPA lining in cans would save 💲1.7BILLION since there would be less Cardiovascular/cardiometabolic disease and childhood obesity.
That’s just one change! What else can we do?
Vote with your wallet-buy items that avoid these risky chemicals. Use fresh or frozen products when you’re able. Limit plastic packaging and food storage when possible too. When items aren’t purchased, retailers and manufacturers notice.
Contact your local, provincial/state, federal govt reps & tell them you want the harmful items banned, and affordable safe alternatives. 📞📧💻📬📮
Dr. Trasande said there are several steps families can take to limit exposure to obesity-promoting chemicals:
🥫Limit the intake of canned or processed foods.
👩🍳Avoid microwaving plastic containers or washing them in dishwasher.
🧴Avoid plastic bottles with recycling numbers 3, 6 or 7.
♻️Do not reuse single-use plastic bottles.
🗑Plastic food containers should be thrown away if they are etched.
🍳Use stainless steel or cast-iron cookware.
🛋Replace old furniture with exposed foam, or cover it.
🪟Recirculate indoor air with outdoor air for a few minutes each day.
🧹Prevent dust by vacuuming regularly with a HEPA filter and mopping.
