It occurred to me that I might write a post about this particular repair, and show the reasons why you should trust a repair service like Amplifiers Plus with guitar and bass amplifiers. I just finished up a maintenance and repair to this fine Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, in tweed and with the Alnico Jensen. As I was starting the evaluation for repair, I noticed there were 3 repair stickers from another electronic repair in another part of Ontario. So, this customer had this amp to this repair place 3 times, possibly for 3 separate issues, but maybe not. As I got into the repair I noticed there were only about 8-10 solder connections ever redone on this amp by this other repair service when it had been there. Those who know these Fender amps know that there have been many problems over the years with the same points and places on the PCB that overheat and/or solders go bad. Typically, the pots and jacks solders weaken, and the low voltage power supply overheats and loosens. This is a common occurrence with the Blues and Hot Rod series. HOWEVER, a good tech will know that all suspect points in these amps should be done when they first come in for any kind of problem. Preventive maintenance is important and can save the customer both money and down-time with the amp. To have an amp fail during a performance when the problem could have been averted shows an incomplete repair by the tech. I strive here to be sure to look for problems, and provide the proper preventive maintenance on all repairs that come to me for service. This other service company is a general electronics repair, doing everything from DVD and CD players, stereo gear, TVs., and any other electronics. Their focus is to repair a problem as reported, and get the unit out to the customer so they can move on to the next repair. My focus is to repair amps properly, and provide the kind of repair service that will keep your amp going when you need it. Thanks again to all my faithful customers, and I welcome any new customer to try my service.
