Micro Sinningia ‘Precious’ 🌸

I swear this plant is just Maryjane’s Pixie wearing sunglasses and a fake moustache. The resemblance between the two is unreal.

I repotted this tuber a few weeks ago, and judging by the size of it, I knew it was going to do something interesting once growth started… but I definitely wasn’t expecting this kind of performance right out of the gate. It decided to wake up and immediately audition for center stage. 🎭

One thing I’ve noticed over the years: I get far better results leaving about a third of the tuber exposed after repotting. Direct light seems to activate the growth points faster, and I lose significantly fewer tubers this way compared to fully burying them.

This tuber is older too, probably around 2.5 to 3 years old, and it has put on some serious weight over time. You can really see the maturity in the bloom production.

‘Precious’ has never been a shy bloomer in my collection, but having it throw this many flowers this early after a repot genuinely caught me off guard. The little beast came out swinging. 💥

I’ve been growing this one out for a couple of years. It stays super tiny, and the flowers are deep purple from the seed parent Jung’s Violet Agate, which I love. It usually has a ton of blooms, but this tuber has been stripped to propagate and is just coming back into bloom.
