My submission to the C0VID Cautious Qu**rs Zine. Grab your free digital copy at .transplants online store.
This piece is a mixed-media journal entry that reflects on my relationship to masking as a trans autistic person. I came up with the visual concept very quickly but re-wrote the words probably 4 or 5 times. Some iterations were rambling, some were ranting, and others were shaming. Though it was good to get all those thoughts out of my head, this final version felt the most honest and hopeful. The image text will be in the comments.
Being part of this project has been so meaningful to me. It’s been lonely to continue masking and caring about C0VID numbers. It’s been disheartening to see many of my fellow q***rs abandon safety measures, and as a result, abandon q***r chronically ill and disabled people. Reading through the digital zine helps me feel connected to other q***rs who still care.
Huge thanks to .transplants for conceptualizing this project and gifting your labour to edit this free zine. Solidarity to all the artists and to all the readers who will be encouraged by this zine.

There is a neon pink triangle with a black outline in the top left corner, and the words “Silence = Death” written in sharpie on a neon pink rectangle in the bottom right corner. The rest of the canvas is filled with small writing written in black sharpie. Image text is in comments.]
