Welcome home, Ethan Phoenix Dowson.

8 years after Dominic & I began our journey toward parenthood, it’s hard to believe this day is finally here. My heart is so unbelievably full.

Born on Sunday, June 21 at 2:18am, on Father’s Day and the first day of Summer, at 6lb1oz and 18.5” long.

This dream come true was possible with the incredible generosity of our surrogate and good friend, Donna Bogar. Words cannot express the gratitude and joy she has given us. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Our family is complete, our boy is perfect.
And I get to be his mom ❤️

Pro-tip: if you have hitchhikers thumb get yourself one of these swan neck braces for knitting! I’m making a from and it’s loads of stockinette, perfect for continental knitting to blow through it quickly. With my thumbs though, they were feeling strain often. I’ve had this brace for about a week now and my thumb has zero pain after knitting! I might even be able to give crochet a shot again!

Late night run to the post office mailbox to drop off deliveries, I was mesmerized by this scene. The alley next to the old stone building lit up by security lights, billowing steam from the furnace vent above. In the background, the electric blue sign of the bank on the corner, cracked and half missing while an empty crosswalk flashes its neon hand.
The frigid winter night, bereft of people and cars, gave it a surreal feeling like I stumbled into a film set. This is what I love about cold nights in a small town, you can enjoy these moments of serenity without interruption
