🇯🇲 HONORING A TRUE JAMAICAN HERO 🇯🇲

Today we remember Samuel Sharpe, the brave Baptist deacon who stood up against slavery and led the historic Baptist War in 1831.

Sharpe believed that freedom was a right, not a privilege. His courage sparked one of the largest slave rebellions in the Caribbean — a movement that helped push Britain closer to ending slavery.

Though he was executed in 1832, his sacrifice was not in vain. His fight became part of the foundation of Jamaica’s freedom.

Because of heroes like him, Jamaica stands strong today.

Today we honor Nanny of the Maroons, a fearless leader, freedom fighter, and National Hero of Jamaica 🇯🇲.

In the early 18th century, Nanny led the Windward Maroons in their resistance against British colonial forces. At a time when slavery tried to break the spirit of African people, she stood as a symbol of strength, strategy, and spiritual power. Through guerrilla warfare and brilliant leadership in the Blue Mountains, she helped her people win their freedom and secure a land treaty in 1739.

But Nanny’s impact goes far beyond war. She preserved African traditions, protected her community, and built a legacy of resilience and self-determination that still inspires Jamaica and the entire African diaspora today.

Because of her courage, generations of Black people in Jamaica were able to live free. Because of her vision, culture and pride survived.

Nanny reminds us that freedom is not given — it is fought for.

Long live the spirit of resistance. Long live Queen Nanny. ✊🏾🔥

BLACK HISTORY MONTH SPOTLIGHT 🇯🇲✊🏾

Today we honor Jamaican National Hero Paul Bogle — a man of courage, strength, and sacrifice.

In 1865, Paul Bogle stood up for justice and equality for the Black people of Jamaica during the Morant Bay Rebellion. At a time when oppression and injustice were heavy on our people, he chose bravery over fear.

He marched for fairness.
He spoke for the voiceless.
He fought for freedom.

Though he paid the ultimate price, his legacy lives on in every Jamaican who stands strong, proud, and resilient.

Black history is not just history — it is power, resistance, and greatness.

Recognized by King Selassie I music lovers worldwide and respected by fellow legends, his voice remains eternal — guiding generations toward love and awareness.

A Visionary. A Revolutionary. A Global Icon.

Marcus Mosiah Garvey taught Black people around the world to love themselves, know their worth, and unite as one people. Through the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA), he inspired millions to embrace Black pride, economic independence, and Pan-African unity.

His message of “One God, One Aim, One Destiny” planted seeds that shaped civil rights movements, independence struggles across Africa and the Caribbean, and even modern Black consciousness and culture today.

Marcus Garvey reminded us that a people without knowledge of their history is like a tree without roots. His legacy still lives in our music, our activism, our businesses, and our identity worldwide 🌍✊🏿

Salute to the Hon. Marcus Garvey — forever a legend.
