Foldit Creations Handmade artisanal jewelry inspired by the East. www.folditcreations.com FoldIT Creations is a small one-man operation based out of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

While working as an English Teacher in Seoul, South Korea, I was constantly given small paper gifts by my grade 5 & 6 students for various occasions. Flowers, cranes, hearts; I was amazed by how small and intricate these origami designs were and how much time and patience went into crafting them. A small collection began to build up on my desk as months went by and I became curious about the proce

ss of jong-ie-jeop-gi (Korean name for origami). In December of 2011, I traveled to Japan to spend Christmas with an old university friend who was living there. She gave me a set of Japanese yuzen papers as a gift and I was hooked. I went back to Korea and spent all my free time at work learning to fold dragons, parrots, narwhals and butterflies. It became an obsession, to take this little piece of paper and have infinite possibilities as to what I could turn it into. I began to photo journal my folding on Facebook, uploading new creations on a daily basis. My folds became crisper and my projects became smaller as my hands got used to working with the paper. One day after uploading some pics of impossibly tiny cranes, my Auntie messaged me requesting that I turn some into earrings for her. It was like a light bulb went off in my head, a practical use for my obsession. And that is how FoldIT Creations came into being... a gift from a friend, an obsession with making beautiful things and an idea from an Auntie across the ocean... it was meant to be...

✨New 3” Vinyl Sticker Drop✨

While I was away this past week visiting my folks in Newfoundland, I spent a lot of my down time reworking these enamel pin designs into fun colorful vinyl stickers.

I’ve added the white rabbit, painted turtle, blue jay, chickadee, blue stretching cat, sitting cat, raccoon, red fox and crow to the collection.

✨Allow me to re-introduce myself! 👋🏼🫣

Hi, I’m Gavin, the artist behind FoldIT Creations! My jewelry journey started completely by accident back in 2012, after I moved home to Canada from teaching English in South Korea. I was folding a lot of origami at the time, and when my Aunt asked me to turn a pair into earrings, I gave it a try—and I was hooked! One pair quickly turned into many, and before I knew it, FoldIT Creations was born.

Today, I handcraft each piece in my home studio using fine silver and beautiful Japanese chiyogami papers, blending traditional origami with modern jewelry design. I also like to create original origami-inspired enamel pins, stickers and prints—drawing on my Fine Arts background from Concordia University in Montreal. Whether I’m at my workbench, doodling on my iPad or out at a weekend market, I love sharing this little art form that all started with a single hand-folded paper crane.❤️

Woof! Any Sheltie or Collie lovers out there?! What’s the difference? Shelties are smaller, typically standing 13-16 inches tall and weighing 15-25 pounds, while Collies are much larger, standing 22-26 inches tall and weighing 50-75 pounds.
