GloFish are always some of our client’s favorites. Especially with the daycare centers, schools and nursing homes! The GloFish are actually born that colour and it will not fade. The color gene is passed down, thru generations. The fish today are descendants of fish that had a fluorescent gene introduced.

Nice, relaxing day taking care of a couple of our downtown Toronto clients’s aquariums. Kind of dreary & ho-hum outside today. Perfect for some algae scrubbing. A couple simple freshwater aquariums.

Really good clients! :-) One tank with fancy goldfolish, one fancy guppies.

First time I’ve scheduled appointments on Sunday in a long time. I have to say I’m thinking about doing it more often for the downtown appointments. Travel time to, from in between appointments was probably less than what it normally is. :-)

Sometimes we get called in to help with some aquariums that have been seriously neglected and need some significant cleaning and work to get back into a healthy state. Regular aquarium maintenance is always better than a significant overhaul due to lack of care! It can take a very long time to nurse a neglected aquarium environment back to health. Unfortunately, sometimes they never recover and it’s easier to drain the tank and start everything over again.

Most of our Reef Aquarium maintenance clients have pistol shrimp in their tanks. Pistol shrimp a really cool little critters. And, are especially fascinating when paired with a prawn goby. The mutually beneficial relationship they share is really fascinating! Especially good for client with children.
There is a lot of fears out there about the danger of the snapping claw of this little shrimp. There are stories of them shattering aquarium glass laying waste to any other aquarium inhabitant that ventures too close to it’s burrow and reports for the snapping action being as powerful as a .22 calibure bullet being fired…
Whatever… These little shrimp pose no risk to aquarium keepers! We occasionally get snapped while working in clients aquariums or handling the rocks. And, let me tell you… it’s no big deal. Sure, maybe startling if you’re not expecting it. But, otherwise harmless. A bad snap kinda feels like getting snapped by a small elastic band.

We provide quality Aquarium installation and maintenance services in the greater Toronto area.
