A perfectly reasonable way to start the Labour Day long weekend.

Don’t ask what time we set the alarm to get our butts out of bed and make this happen.

That’s between us, the coffee maker and the darkness. ☕️

Thankfully, we’d finished our coffee before we hit Highway 49.

Sometimes the story just writes itself.

A beautiful order with a big emphasis on native plants. Prairie Dropseed, Little Bluestem, Wild Bergamot, Mountain Mint, Asters, Prairie Smoke and plenty more.

One delivery. 196 plants. Done.

We’re heading back to the greenhouse to load up another 300 plants.

Labour Day weekend.

Nothing says “Labour Day” quite like cramming a week’s worth of labour into a weekend. 😂

We almost didn’t post this. 🤐

“Be professional. Don’t add fuel to the fire.”

Which, in hindsight, is hilarious.

Because the plant that started all of this?

FIREWEED. 🔥🌿😂

Yep. We sold out of Fireweed.

And holy smokes, did things get fiery.

Definitely not how we planned on rolling into the long weekend. 😂

We pulled up to a new customer’s house this morning. 🚐🌿

Looked at the house. 🏠

Looked at the delivery sheet. 📋

Looked back at the house. 👀

“Really? They ordered perennials from us?”

Now, we were raised not to judge a book by its cover. 📖

But somewhere in the distance, we could’ve sworn a banjo started playing. 🪕👀

We ignored it.

BIG MISTAKE. 😂

The Fireweed on the order was unavailable. 🔥🌿

We refunded the plants AND the entire delivery fee. 💳✅

Then came what felt like an eternity of emails and Facebook comments from a mother-daughter tag team. 📧📱🥊

And the language?

SWEET JESUS. 😳

We’re not going to quote it. This is a gardening page.

But there were F-bombs. C-words. Apparently, we learned today, there’s more than one C-word. 😂

The kind of vocabulary that would have a long-haul trucker pulled over on the 401 clutching his pearls. 🚛😳

They certainly showed their true colours.

Here’s the part that isn’t funny.

It ruined our day. ❤️‍🩹

We work our asses off. We make mistakes. When we do, we own them, apologize and make them right. 🤝🌿

But nobody gets a free pass to verbally abuse another human being because we sold out of Fireweed. 🛑🔥

Be disappointed. Complain. Tell us we screwed up.

Absolutely.

But kindness and basic decency still apply. ❤️

So we pulled over, regrouped, remembered how absolutely wonderful 99.9% of our customers are, and got back on the road. 🚐💨🌿

And that banjo?

Turns out the little bastard knew something. 🪕👀😂

Started at 1 a.m. Wrapped up around 9 a.m. Not a bad Saturday morning. 🌿📦

Kingston, Westport, Ottawa, Chelsea, Arnprior and into the Ottawa Valley. Deliveries are done, we’re caught up, and somewhere in there we even remembered we had an August giveaway to draw. 😂

This box feels pretty accurate right now. 🌿📦

Full. Overflowing a little. Lots going on. And somehow, we’re still finding room for more. 😂

Are we overwhelmed? A little. 😅 Overbooked? Absolutely. Did this season get way bigger than we expected?

Yeah. Yeah, it did. 😂

But we’re not slowing down. 🌿

Between April 15th and August 15th, we delivered OVER 20,000 PLANTS across Toronto, Ottawa & Montreal. 🤯🌸🌾

So, a quick housekeeping note while we’re running at full speed. If we’re a day behind, you’ll get an email. 📧 If your plants need to go somewhere specific, backyard, side gate, tucked around the porch, just send us a note. We’re keeping track and following your instructions. 📦🪴

And starting now, we’re into our late summer and fall delivery schedule:
