A Do-It-Yourself bike shop serving U of T and the public. We offer repair support, free bike rentals for students, workshops, group rides, and more!

Bikechain is a do-it-yourself bike shop located on the University of Toronto's St. George campus. We teach you how to fix your own bike, no prior experience or skills needed! Use of the space is free for UofT students, and pay-what-you-can for everybody else. We offer free bicycle lending for UofT students, and do various workshops and events. We are a not-for-profit organization, so we love our volunteers, and always accept donations of parts and bicycles!

You don't need a mechanic to fix your disc brakes!

This workshop will guide you through the anatomy of disc brakes, common issues, and basic repairs. There will be an opportunity to practice on your own bike.

Please note: This workshop deals only with mechanical disc brakes, and not hydraulic brakes (ie. with brake fluid).

To RSVP, email a picture of your disc brakes to [email protected].

Can't make it to this workshop? We give a one-on-one lessons on disc brakes anytime we're open, Monday to Friday.

Did you know that Bikechain also repairs mobility devices?

We discovered that many common issues on wheelchairs, rollators, and other mobility devices can be repaired using bike tools.

Mobility device users often face exorbitant prices, egregious wait times, and bureaucratic nightmares when their device only needs a simple fix.

Bikechain offers pay-what-you-can repairs on a do-it-together basis. We work alongside you to identify the issue, and a bike mechanic completes the repair for you on the spot. (Or, you complete the repair yourself with the mechanic's guidance!)

Shoutout to our friend Yagiz Firat Boran for stopping by for a repair before his race!

Alert! Bikechain will be closed on Monday October 12 for Indigenous Peoples Day (elsewhere known as Thanksgiving Monday).

We'll be open as usual for the rest of that week!

Heads up! We are closing a little early tomorrow.

Find us for your pre-weekend bike repairs before 2:30 PM!

Bikechain will be closed on Wednesday September 30 for the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation (also known as Orange Shirt Day).

Truth & Reconciliation Day is a day of mourning and action, recognizing Canada's genocide of Indigenous peoples through "Indian" residential schools and day schools.

For more information and ideas of how to honour this day, see the link in our bio.
