For the 5th year in a row, it is that time again! The time to get your tickets and passes for our favorite, not to mention perfect for avid readers, film festival!

IT IS TIME FOR PENDANCE. (Pendance Film Festival 2022)

With the motto "story over everything", this festival will gift you with stories that will haunt you, teach you, inspire you, devastate you, remain with you, but always enrich you. Some of the most memorable films we have watched we've discovered thanks to Pendance, and we cannot wait for the new treasures in store this year. Pendance will also feature 8 incredible panels and workshops on acting, cinematography, directing and editing. Free to attend from all over the world!

It's that time of the year again! The time when we announce the return of our most favourite event in this city - Pendance Film Festival!

In its 4th year running, Pendance has a unique mission statement - Story Over Everything. As people who watch plot-driven movies, we love it! In the last few years, the Festival has featured myriad beautiful, unique, thought-provoking, and often breath-taking selections, both long and short, from all over the world, and from all different perspectives and walks of life. They are scheduled and arranged for maximum impact, and for many of these films it is your only opportunity to see them screened in North America. It is actually amazing how many excellent films are out there, but which you never hear about. Pendance is the home of the best of these.

In addition to the movies, Pendance also offers fascinating and relevant panels and workshops with film industry professionals. With 54 films, 20 live panels, and QandA's, you can get so much out of attending it is actually mind blowing. The people behind this festival are passionate and committed to making every year's experience the best possible one, and every year they set the bar a little bit higher for themselves. And they always exceed our wildest expectations.

This year the world is a little different than before, and Pendance is taking place on-line, which means you can enjoy all of it from the comfort of your own home, while supporting local arts and local businesses! Hi everyone. We are so proud this year to once again be sponsoring Pendance Film Festival! Three years ago we were told: this is a new film festival-- one that puts story over EVERYTHING. Naturally, stories make up our lives (and, personally, our livelihood!), and are a reason for, and essential part of both literature and film. Here was a celebration and conservation of story to the exclusion of all else, arising out of the cold Toronto winter, aiming to entertain, to move, and to inspire and guide new filmmakers and film lovers alike. We couldn't help but support this phenomenon.

Now in their third year, the festival has grown by leaps and bounds into an absolute powerhouse. They highlight and even premiere feature films, short films, as well as the music of cinema -- which is often a subtle, but integral, aspect of on-screen storytelling. They even host workshops, and networking events, to help artists learn and to make connections in their industry. It truly is a very busy weekend!

They are passionate about film, dedicated to telling great stories, and provide a huge platform and powerful signal boost to young artists and women in the arts especially. These are only some of the reasons we urge you all to go and take in a show, and take part in this gem!

Happiest of belated birthdays to one of our owners, Margot! It's been an incredible two years since we took over Seekers from the old man; it could NOT have been done without you. Your enthusiasm, your vast knowledge and lust for reading ALL the books, and your wise counsel to so many people, have become irreplaceable parts of who we are. You are one of a kind, and we are so grateful to be a part of what you are, in Hunter's words: "one of God's own prototypes; A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production; Too weird to live, and too rare to die".

Seekers Books at Pendance Film Festival!!! 🎬 As lovers and purveyors of stories, Pendance’s missions statement - - lies very close to our hearts, and we were not disappointed! All 45+ features and shorts were mind-blowing, thought-provoking, sometimes funny, often soul-rending, but always powerful. We are incredibly awed at all of the amazing things the Pensare team was able to put together and offer - from including movies from all over the world, to workshops, to networking opportunities with passionate, ambitious and innovative industry professionals. There is heart and soul and integrity not only behind every selection at this festival, but behind every person on the Pensare team, who pulled off this feat while remaining lovely, and making every single person in attendance feel personally welcomed and taken care of. Pendance Film Festival is fast approaching, and we wanted to encourage you all to come and attend this fantastic event. Five days filled with films by some of the best and brightest talent from around the world; galas and networking events; workshops; and the opportunity to be a part history by attending the fastest-growing film festival in the world, right in our own back yard!
