One of my favorite memories from Threshold Aviation has to be the day I became a simulator instructor. At just 16, I was the youngest in a team full of experienced instructors, most of them being licensed pilots. I was so nervous for my first session, not knowing if I’d be able to handle it. My first session was with a family, and I had to let them know it was my very first time as an instructor. They were so understanding, even when I made some mistakes or faced problems I didn’t know how to solve.

Working at Threshold has been such an unforgettable experience for me. It’s my first-ever job, and the fact that it’s connected to aviation—the field I’m so passionate about—makes it even more special. This job has made my journey towards becoming a pilot even more exciting and driven, as it’s given me so many opportunities to learn and grow. I’m incredibly thankful to the amazing team for being so supportive and helping me build confidence. I’ve grown so much and made so many meaningful connections, whether it’s with the people I’ve worked with or the customers I’ve met. Thank you all for making this such a special part of my journey!

My time as a co-owner of Threshold Aviation meant more than words can express. It wasn’t just about owning or running a business; it was about lifting others up and being lifted in return.

The most meaningful part of my time with Threshold was that the staff were never just employees to me—they truly became the little sisters and brother I never had. Guiding them and watching them grow has been my proudest achievement, knowing that, in some way, Threshold played a part in their story.

Out of all my young employees, there are two who have grown so much since they started. (As I describe them, you might recognize yourself—please drop a comment if you do!) One young man, who was so shy at first, is now a confident pilot flying for Sunwing. Another, a timid 15-year-old girl who was too intimidated to answer the phone, blossomed into one of our youngest simulator instructors and even stepped in to cover for our store manager.

It wasn’t just a one-way street either. My staff have always had my back through my health struggles, hospitalizations, and treatments. When long-term friends walked away and treated me as a burden, my crew here stepped in. I found solace and sisterhood in my employees when I needed it most.

I also want to thank all of our customers for your unwavering support over the years and for giving me the privilege of getting to know you on a personal level. It’s been an honor to watch so many of your children grow from aviation enthusiasts into pilots—and even suppliers for our business!

To my staff, thank you for sticking with us through thick and thin. We wouldn’t have come this far without you.

Looking back at this incredible year, our hearts are full of gratitude and joy:) One of our absolute favourite memories has been inspiring young girls to take to the skies and dream big! My favorite Threshold memory isn’t just one. It’s the MANY customers (and employees) I have seen grow their aviation careers, and see their dreams come alive. To witness a customer who shopped at our store as a child, and see them in an Air Canada uniform fulfill his goal is a memory I can never forget. And the fact I played a (tiny) part in that is just an added bonus.

Working at Threshold meant many wonderful things. It meant meeting amazing people from all walks of life, becoming an instructor for the 737 simulator, having a place to exercise my photography and graphic design skills, and of course, getting my hands on lots and lots of models! My fondest memories, of course, come strangely from working with the staff into late hours during the height of the pandemic. Yes, it was an extremely trying time, but it was so much fun and there was so much joy!

Today marks the end of an incredible era at Threshold Aviation. It’s our final day, and with our hearts full of memories and a touch of sadness.

For years, we’ve shared the joy of aviation, celebrated milestones, and created a home for enthusiasts and dreamers alike.

Every laugh, every story, every moment spent in our shop and on our simulator is a piece of our history that we’ll cherish forever. Thank you for being part of our family, for believing in our vision, and for making this journey so special. ❤️

We’re grateful beyond words for the support, love, and community we’ve built. Here’s to our last day and the legacy that will live on in every pilot and dreamer we inspired.
