Prince and Pixie are gathering their strength to host Vanessa Westermann tomorrow, Saturday May 2nd from 1pm-3pm at Sleuth. She will be signing her latest book, Turning the Page on Murder, the second in her Murder by the Book mystery series. We’ll also have copies of Cover Art and Shudder Pulp, from her Charley Scott series available. These two books are set in cottage country, near where Prince wants to chase every squirrel and chipmunk he sees.

Need some terrific summer reading? Drop by the Sleuth bookstore on Saturday May 2nd, 2026 from 1pm-3pm and meet Vanessa Westermann, who will be signing copies of her latest mystery, Turning the Page on Murder. The first sentence certainly hooked me: “Bookstore owner and armchair sleuth Kate Rowan loved a good murder mystery — until she fell for an actual killer”. I mean really, how could I resist!
We will also have copies in stock of Cover Art and Shudder Pulp, her two cottage country mysteries. Price and Pixie will be around as well, trying to nab some popcorn snacks, so come join us and stock up on your summer reading.

We had a lovely event at Sleuth with the Lions Foundation future Dog Guides puppies. Here are a few photos. Karen, the volunteer who organized the event, stole the show dressed as the famous sleuth! She explained to us how the program works; Zander, the black puppy, gave her some secret tips; and, although Apple, the 11 week old puppy was not at the event, (too young), Dream, who was at last year’s event, has now graduated and is a full fledged Dog Guide.

On Saturday November 8th 2025, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, we will be having our yearly Dog Guide puppy visit. Come visit the darling puppies, all of whom we hope will become future guide dogs. Besides drooling over the most adorable balls of fur, we hope you'll buy lots of copies of the 2026 Dog Guide Puppy calendars, $20 each. The entire $20 goes to Lions Foundation of Canada who provide highly trained Dog Guides at no cost to qualified applicants right across Canada. They receive no government funding for operations and rely solely on the generous support of you. We also hope to tempt you into buying a stuffed toy, in the shape of a Poodle, Golden Retriever or a Lab, that you can give to a child, or keep for yourself.
