✨Last day of was another eventful day. I (Thomas) was on my own since Jess was busy. 🫢

The day started off with me rushing to because Jess wanted me to create some content before the day started. As I watched the brewing video that I made, I didn't realize that my shoulder was blocking half the view. 🤦🏻‍♂️

However, I did have the V60 coffee filter paper that Jess forgot and I had a great time brewing our Ethiopia Yirgacheffe for guests and vendors. This was definitely the highlight of my day. 🤩

Then, when it was time to leave... because I didn't pack the boxes properly on my trolley, one of the boxes fell in the pouring rain. 😱And yes, water destroyed some of our coffee packaging. 😭😭When I told Jess about this when I got home, she was pretty mad. 😡

I learned some hard lessons from this experience:
1. When making content creation, I should consider the whole vibe of the video, making sure I capture the branding and the actual content (☕️coffee brewing versus my back).😶
2. When I pack stuff after the event, I need to make sure everything is secure on the trolley to prevent potential falls and accidents. 😱
3. When it is pouring hard outside, I should wait it out and not risk getting my product wet in the rain. 💦

Despite all of this, I am grateful for Jess's response: "I do forgive you for messing up and getting our custom design coffee bags wet. I just want to say, "Small businesses make small mistakes.' So while your mistake did cost us money, it isn't an amount that we cannot recover from. Just don't make these same mistakes again." 🙏

Neither Jess or I had a perfect day as vendors, but we are grateful for the lessons and takeaways as we learn to grow from our shortcomings. 🌱

✨What an eventful first day at the !! 😬 I (Jess) found out when I arrived to set up that .coffee is allowed to sell coffee. In the vendor contract, it stated that we were not allowed to sell food, but since coffee is a dry good, we were able to sell it. 😏 This was a game changer, but it also meant I had to go home and grab our coffee. Thankfully, there was enough time to do that. 🚗💨

Our booth was located in the middle of the room so I thought we didn't have electricity but when I looked underneath the table, I discovered we did!! I was so excited because it meant I could brew coffee samples. When I was home, I packed our grinder, kettle, and pour over gear.... only to forget the filter papers. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I didn't have time to go home to grab it, and I didn't know anywhere close by to buy some. I thought of our IG community and was hoping someone would see my story and bring me some V60 filter papers... I waited and waited, but no one came to my rescue. 😔

Some takeaways that I have from this experience:
1. Double check with the event planner to confirm reasons behind why food vendors cannot sell their product, because it turned out coffee was an exception.😮
2. Don't assume because of booth placement that there isn't electricity, ask the event planner. 🤔
3. NEVER FORGET TO BRING COFFEE ☕️FILTER PAPER!!

Despite my shortcomings, it was a great day 1 of the event! ✨I had a really lovely time connecting with brides to be and vendors! 🤩

Day 2 is going to be all Thomas. We'll see how he does. 🙃

💨👅🥜 In our house, "it tastes nutty" has taken on a whole new meaning. 😂

On this April Fool's Day, we want to share some laughs by re-enacting a moment that we had a few weeks ago while drinking coffee. ☕️✨

Yes, Thomas did fart.💨 Yes, Jess was super grossed out. 🤢 And yes, the coffee did taste nutty. 😉

A brew-tiful brewing lesson in life: DO NOT GIVE UP! ☕️✨

Some of us may complain when a coffee tastes super sour 😳or really bitter 🤯that something must be wrong with the coffee beans. We immediately write-off the roaster and move onto the next one. Yet, have we ever wondered that the issue is not on the roaster but in our brewing? 🤔

Similarly, when we face life challenges, many of us try to run away or move on. But the only way for challenges to be resolved is when we face the problem and figure out how to approach it. 🧐

Just like issues with the coffee being super sour or really bitter could be resolved by adjusting the grind size, water to coffee ratio, brewing time, water quality, brewing equipment, water temperature, and turbulence/technique. 😮

This is why there are brewing competitions. Because your first brew is never your best brew. 😉

What is coffee cupping?☕️ It is a way to evaluate and compare coffee beans. 🤓

I (Thomas) always do coffee cupping after roasting coffee, to make sure the flavour notes of the coffee beans are consistent.✨ I also do coffee cupping of sample beans from importers to choose which coffee beans to import. 😇
