Some furry friends are coming to Crockett's!

Momma K of Nakusp's My Little Funny Farm has some new kids' books starring the farm's own animals. She's bringing the family to the area for the Pass Creek Fall Fair, and three of them will be at Waneta Plaza the day before; Little Man Cash, Miss Tilly, and Toffee are old hands (old hooves?) who've appeared at Kootenay events before and are great with kids. She'll be signing the books (and donating part of the sales to Trail's library for children's literacy), but whether you pick up a copy or not, all are welcome to say hello!

Fruitvale author Brandon Blayney is coming to Crockett's for a signing from 1:00–3:00 on August 7th. The Mist Awakens begins a fantasy saga in which an ordinary girl from the suburbs embarks on a journey across realms of magic, seeking salvation from the entropic force that devoured her world and may soon devour many more.

We've just received the late Anthony Dransfeld's new book of Kootenay sports stories! He compiled these with Cranbrook author and publisher Keith Powell (who brought us Abandoned Kootenays, Forgotten Creston, and others), with contributions as well from Barry Coulter and Greg Nesteroff (of Lost Kootenays and King of Sandon fame). The Smokies of course are here, including their 1961 world championship, and there's more than hockey too—Trail's Jason Bay makes an appearance. If you love Kootenay sports and Kootenay history, this is the book for you!
