I am posting this on behalf of a friend/family member, and many other family members who's lives have been invaded by diabetes.
I have decided to publish this message to make people aware of the horrific byproducts of diabetes. You realize who true friends are or people who really appreciate you. Unfortunately, some friends will click "like" but they don't really take time to read your status if they see it's long...
The disease ruins your cardiovascular and renal systems. And the drugs, like metformin, that are prescribed, may encourage the onset of dementia. Now I'm looking for those who will have time to read this post to the end. Diabetes is very invasive and destructive to our body, even after treatment, and medications your body is still struggling with yourself trying to regulate the spiking/dropping of blood sugar levels all the time. It's a very long process. Let’s not forget retinopathy or neuropathy.
Please, in honor of a family member or friend who has died or continues to fight diabetes or even have diabetes themselves; copy and paste (not share) on your page. So, I'm going to find out who reads my posts, please write "done."

My Christmas gift to myself. Many years ago I had the pleasure to be at the Tech Museum in San Jose, Calif. during their Award Ceremony to honour Technologies that Benefit Humanity. One of the recipients was the organization KIVA, that supplies micro loans to small entrepreneurs around the World.
Being a serial entrepreneur myself (many tentative tries, one long term success) I know the struggle to start a business when you are very small.
My Christmas gift to myself has been to support a variety of business owners around the World. $25 at a time. 2 of the loans I made successfully completed their loan request.
We live a very privileged life here in North America and many other areas of the World. If you have money for a computer (or mobile phone), access to the internet, time to browse, you are privileged!
My ask to all of my Facebook community is to visit the KIVA website and make 1 or 2 $25 loans yourself.

Kiva is the world's first online lending platform. For as little as $25 you can lend to an entrepreneur around the world. Learn more here.

Before you jump completely on the "Everything Electric" band wagon, take time to Listen and LEARN the full implications of this.
Remember that only about 20% of Electricity in North America is created by Hydro power as we have in British Columbia.
Batteries have almost become the new 'Gold'. Running cars and gardening tools. What is in Batteries and how do they work?
BUT, at what cost do we have batteries and solar panels and all of the other non-petrolium energies???
Please take time to read the following article. It is a bit long but worth the read. CNN Asia Indonesia Sulawesi Nickel are the search words you can use to find this article published on cnn [dot] com/2023/12/08

In another life, and another Century, I spoke through my fingers. Sewing, designing and writing (all in my spare time while working full time AND running a 4 bedroom shared house)
For 7 or 8 months, I wrote a regular column for a major disability focused magazine - PN Paraplegia News. Here are a few samples, sorry about the glare from the overhead lights.
Iris Davies, You will see my joy in being granted Tom's fabrics, portfolio and design tools. Someday I might get back to designing and doing custom sewing.
I have my first sewing student in a while. Who knows what part sewing might play in her future.
