Another busy week in the pottery studio. Started on a dinnerware order. Dinner plates and soup bowls this week. Luncheon plates will be next weeks work. Continuing on with pots for the woodfiring. Mugs, garlic jars and oil pourers, in Hot Bod from The Pottery Supply House. Love that clay! Great to throw with and looks great when wood fired.
Starting to run out of horizontal space in my studio.

I thought I would show you all the work that I produced this past month. This is just the decorated, electric fired porcelain work. I’m very happy with the outcome. All of this work is carved and hand painted with Spectrum and Amaco underglazes. I use tuckers.pottery MCS cone 6 porcelain. Those dragonflies are hand drawn on each piece. I am old school, I also make my own glazes. I have a fully stocked glaze room.

Some of this work is going to General Fine Craft in Almonte. The rest is going into our Frantic Farms Gallery.

Not shown in these pictures but alongside this work I also produced the equivalent amount of pots destined for the woodfiring next month. They are all bisqued and stashed away until I’m ready to glaze them.

I just wanted to let you know a bit of the life of a full time potter. After 42 years of making pots I am grateful to still be able to make functional pottery that people want to buy and use for themselves or give as gifts.

This is the kind of week we had. Lots of pots made. The first four pictures are of loading my bisque kiln. That was fired and then I turned around and glazed most of those pots and now they are in the glaze firing. Paulus was doing property maintenance for both our home and our Frantic Farms Gallery property in Warkworth. In between our work we have been processing tomatoes and our peppers.
🫑 🌶️ 🍅 Yummy! Oh and Paulus made some really fabulous dinners! More yummy! Maybe I’ll have a meal post soon.

Happy Labour Day Weekend!
There are new pots out of the kiln and more pots to go into the kiln for their final glaze firing.
Our Frantic Farms Gallery hours this weekend are 10:30 - 4:30 Saturday and 12:00 - 3:00 on Sunday.
Closed on Labour Day Monday. I will be labouring at home. Processing peppers, tomatoes and baking some yummy peach tarts!

It was a rainy day yesterday. Good day to go get clay tuckers.pottery and then go spend some time with Paulus’s mom.

Last week of August. The weather is finally a bit cooler for Paulus to finish gluing down the rubber roof on the car port. Between heat, rain and parental care he has had a hard time finishing the job. With the help of becky lauzon he got it done. The rains have been great for the gardens though. The blooms on the hibiscus and zinnia’s are huge. Lots of butterflies, moth’s and other little creatures in the gardens. In the pottery studio, work continues with a dinner set for the wood firing, pots decorated and loaded into a bisque firing and pots glazed and ready for a glaze firing.

It’s nearing the end of August. The summer has flown by. I’m busy in the pottery studio making pots for the fall woodfiring while also making decorated work for orders. Some of this work is destined for the General Fine Craft in Almonte.
Love bringing in fresh flowers from the garden. It’s been a good summer for the flowers. If you are in need of a vase, we have lots in the gallery. If you buy either one in the window you get the bouquet as well!

It’s mugshotmonday but no mugs unless you count this little cup on top of my teapot. This past week I was busy making teapots, pitchers, sugar jars and lots of bowls. Not in the picture are the two dozen noodle bowls. These pieces are destined for both the electric kiln and wood fire. I just have to keep track!
This next week I will be switching clay to begin working in red stoneware for the wood kiln.
