today is the national day for truth and reconciliation, and although it is very important to acknowledge, it is just as important be interacting with indigenous stories, art, literature, news etc. year round.
Reading indigenous authors is a productive way to continuously interact with these themes.
-
I have found these resources complied by .talks to be especially useful:
-
2nd slide : Non Fiction books to read on indigenous history in Canada
-
3rd slide: Fiction books by indigenous authors
-
4th slide : indigenous podcasts to listen to in Canada
-
my personal favourites have been ‘The Inconvenient Indian and ‘the truth about stories’ ’by Thomas King, and I have heard great things about “A girl called echo” which is next on my list.

Today is a great day for some new discoveries of these types of amazing resources, so keep an eye out !
