Vesting is one of those crypto terms that sounds technical but is actually pretty simple.

It’s the schedule that determines when founders, early investors, and team members are allowed to access their tokens.

Why does that matter?

Because when a large number of tokens unlock at once, the circulating supply can increase quickly. That can create additional selling pressure if some of those holders decide to sell.

Before buying a project, it’s worth checking:

* When are the major unlocks?
* How much of the supply is being released?
* Who is receiving those tokens?

An unlock doesn’t automatically mean the price will fall. But ignoring the vesting schedule means ignoring an important part of a project’s tokenomics.

Most people don’t get wrecked in crypto because they’re stupid.

They get wrecked because they’re confident too early.

They buy something after watching a few videos, hearing a friend talk about it, or seeing the price suddenly start moving.

And that confidence can create a dangerous shortcut:

“I think I understand this.”

But owning crypto and understanding crypto are two very different things.

Before putting money into any project, it’s worth asking what actually gives it value.

Is there real utility?

Is there genuine demand?

Is the network being adopted?

Is supply limited or constantly increasing?

How secure is it?

And maybe most importantly, can you clearly explain why someone would actually want or need it?

A low-priced coin isn’t automatically cheap.

A crypto that’s going up isn’t automatically valuable.

And hype isn’t the same thing as long-term demand.

You don’t need to know everything before you invest.

But you should know what questions to ask.

FDV
Fully Diluted Valuation

Definition:
The estimated value of a crypto project if all of its tokens were already in circulation.

Why it matters:
A project can have a reasonable market cap today but a much larger FDV if lots of tokens still haven’t been released.

That can mean future dilution and selling pressure.

Simple example:
Market Cap: $500M
FDV: $5B

That gap is worth paying attention to.

HODL. 💎

It started as a typo in a Bitcoin forum back in 2013 and somehow became one of the most recognizable words in crypto.

But there’s a bigger lesson behind it.

Markets can be emotional. Prices move fast. Headlines change by the hour. When things get volatile, it’s easy to make decisions based on fear or excitement instead of the reason you invested in the first place.

That’s where the idea of HODLing comes in.

It doesn’t mean “never sell no matter what.” It means having a long-term thesis and not allowing every short-term price movement to change your mind.

And there’s an important distinction:

Conviction is knowing why you’re holding.
Blind loyalty is refusing to question why you’re holding.

Your thesis should always be open to new information.

So whether you HODL for months, years, or not at all know why you own what you own.

Do you HODL? 👀

Before you hit BUY, check the spread. 👀

A wider gap between the bid and ask can mean worse ex*****on, especially on lower-liquidity coins.

Small detail. Real cost.
