🎊 Happy National Indigenous Peoples Day!

🌟 We’re excited to spotlight the brilliant work of artist and friend Keely Chow (Tahltan/Tlingit/Chinese)! Several of her designs are made in collaboration with her grandfather and mentor Dempsey Bob, an internationally renowned master carver and sculptor. We can’t wait to see what Keely and Dempsey produce together this summer!

🛍️ You can find Keely’s striking collection of art/greeting cards, stickers, and magnets at SAAN SAAN Cafe & Restaurant and at our upcoming events around the Lower Mainland.🐦‍⬛

🗓️ Sat, June 13
🕰️ 2:00-3:30PM

Join us for a conversation between Wiley Wei-Chiun Ho and Keiko Honda, as they discuss their work creating memoirs that explore shifting identities and create sense and beauty out of the struggle and triumph of forging an unexpected path.

How do you reconcile having parents who would do anything for you except stay with you? In her memoir The Astronaut Children of Dunbar Street, Wiley Wei-Chiun Ho traces the emotional fault lines of an “astronaut” family, parents and children divided by an ocean amid shifting global powers, and her struggles against silence and ambiguous loss to find a sense of home – between places, cultural norms, and identities.

Keiko Honda was a successful cancer researcher when illness forced her departure from a career she spent twelve years building. In Accidental Blooms and Hidden Flowers, she explores the way that transformation and tragedy would ultimately provide the opportunity to live a life dedicated to community, friendship and art, as well as the continually evolving process of self-discovery as a mother, Japanese immigrant, survivor and artist.
