“Took the commuter rail train the T from Worcester to Boston about a hour away with my Alinker.. I spent the day in Boston volunteering with epic an organization that basically has young adults 16-23 who have a disability do community projects and have a leadership development days twice a month on Saturday..all of the staff have a disability as well.. i spent the day supporting the youth and helping them out with the activities.. we learned about disability history and how to navigate the train station and how to take the train.. the Alinker fit into the ada seats well despite the other volunteer being in her wheelchair and sitting together.. I took the 7am train on the way going to Boston the train was newer and Brittany was easily able to put her electric wheelchair and my Alinker in the same spot. The other issue was finding a conductor to put down the bridge plate but after waiting a bit he did put it down.. I got up at 5:00 am.. so wanted to just get on the train.. I took the 3pm train which was slightly delayed by 5 minutes except the train was older and the ada seating was a little bit more cramped with Brittny’s wheelchair and my Alinker.. I used the Alinker to keep up with the group of people and I saw my best friend Stephanie on the train.. which I thought what ate the odds of that!”
