“First time taking public transport!
I took it to my physical therapy/community center. So many people were impressed. I finally got them to understand what it is and how important this is to me that I can take it to physical therapy. I got my therapist to help me integrate it into my therapy. She asked questions like, is it covered under insurance? How much does it cost? Things like that. The bus driver called me a trendsetter I said “I hope so!“
One of the front desk workers asked me to put it in the bike rack! That had me laughing. She wanted me to get it out of the way of the wheelchair on the way! I explained to her it was a wheelchair, just mine allows me to stand up and move myself.
I was so excited I actually ran to therapy and when they checked my blood pressure, it was too high! They said it’s OK it’s because you’re excited about this thing because normally it’s not high. But when I ran through the gym and crashed into an unseen bolt on the floor, that’s when we decided no more running inside! I felt like a little kid. ”
