June is off to a strong start with plenty of fishing opportunities across both fresh and saltwater fisheries. Interior lake anglers are seeing consistent action as mayflies, damsels, caddis, and dragonflies become increasingly important food sources, while local bass fishing remains productive as fish transition out of the spawn. On the coast, anglers are eagerly awaiting the arrival of early season coho, and with longer days and improving weather, now is a great time to start planning your next trip.

🚗 Parking Update – Getting Here Just Got Easier!

If you’ve visited us over the past few months, you’ve probably experienced a few twists and turns navigating the Broadway Subway construction.

The good news? Broadway is now fully open between Main and Quebec Street and the detour routes have been removed, making travel through the neighbourhood much more straightforward.

We’ve updated our parking map and wanted to highlight a few convenient options nearby:

- Expanded 30-minute loading zone just a few steps west of the shop (in front of Climb On) - perfect for quick stops, pickups, and drop-offs

- Metered parking available throughout the neighbourhood

- Free on-street parking on the north side of Broadway, just west of Manitoba Street

- Additional parking options available on surrounding side streets

Whether you’re popping in to grab a few flies, picking up a new setup, or spending some time talking fishing, there are plenty of parking options within a short walk of the shop.

Looking for a bigger version of the map - click on our link in bio and this photo!

Thanks for your patience throughout the construction process. We’re excited to see Broadway reopening and making access to the neighbourhood easier for everyone.

June is almost here and fishing opportunities continue to build across BC. 🎣

Interior lake fishing remains productive with chironomids still producing, while mayflies, damsels, sedges, and leeches are becoming increasingly important as we move into early summer. Local bass fishing has been consistent, and early season coho are beginning to show in our local rivers.

On the saltwater front, anticipation is building for the June 1 hatchery coho opening. Now is the time to get your gear organized and make sure you’re ready for what we hope will be another great summer fishery.

This week’s report also features a new Stillwater Series video where Jason breaks down the naked line chironomid technique and explains when fishing without an indicator can put more fish in the net.

Fish sitting deep and ignoring your indicator setup? 👀

In our latest YouTube video in our Stillwater Series, we break down how to deep water dangle for stillwater trout - one of the most effective ways to target fish holding tight to bottom in 30, 40, even 60+ feet of water.

We cover:
• Full sinking line setup
• Leader and tippet configuration
• How to quickly dial in depth
• Using sonar to stay in the strike zone

If you’ve never tried dangling before, this technique can be an absolute game changer for deep stillwater fish.

Indicator fishing works… but sometimes fishing “naked” outfishes it by a mile 👀🎣

In the latest video in our stillwater series, we break down one of our favourite techniques for chironomids: fishing without an indicator using a floating line and long leader or naked line chironomid fishing as we call it!

We cover:
• Leader setup
• Retrieve techniques
• Why movement matters
• How to cover more water effectively
• Why this technique can trigger more bites

If you’ve never tried naked line chironomid fishing before, this is a great one to add to your lake fishing toolbox.

May Long Weekend is almost here 🎣

If you’ve been thinking about refining your current stillwater gear or are building your first lake setup, now’s the time.

We just dropped a new video breaking down Jason’s favourite all-around stillwater setup: the versatile 10’ 5-weight. This rod setup shines for indicator fishing, sinking lines, chironomids, leeches, blobs, bo***es, and more.

Check out the full video now on our YouTube channel and see why this is the setup he reaches for most often on BC lakes.
