I’ve hand-selected fabric for Spool of Thread like it’s my own sewing project for over 15 years, and our newest arrivals are no different.

Our new fabric is for rebels, sewists and seamstresses with a goal to sew better clothes. They want to make clothing that extends beyond what they can find in shops. Get the perfect fit, colour and style by sewing your own.

My sewing energy hasn’t been the greatest over the last few days, and I’m reaching for one of my tried and true tricks to get it back on track: sewing a satisfying project.
You know the ones! That relaxing project that just lets you hang out with some fabric, be creative and in not too much time, have a really pleasing finished project.
These three patterns from Merchant + Mills are sewing patterns I talk about all the time at the shop - well, Clover is a new arrival, but the other 2 have been around and loved for awhile. These three work well for beginner garment sewists to gain more experience or, if you are more advanced, I find sewing a more straightforward project satisfying and stress-free!
Regardless of your experience level, I find if you’re struggling with your creativity a good way to solve that is to make something easy and fun.

Today, I'm squeezing in one last summer wear of my Sauvie Dress made from our exquisite Poppy Washed Linen. ⁠

Our Clara Cotton Rayon Linen Jacquard is a one-of-a-kind fabric with it's unique textured pattern and range of statement-making colours.⁠

This fabric is a blend of cotton, rayon and linen, and is woven on a loom to create it's unique texture and interesting design. It's also a little bit thicker than some of our other cottons, weighing in at 6.2oz, making it a great option for cool-weather jackets, skirts or even overalls. ⁠
