The Hobbit x Magic: The Gathering – Allocation Update
We know that many of you have been waiting patiently for us to announce preorders for The Hobbit. We intentionally wait until we receive our allocation numbers before preordering; we do this so that we cannot oversell our allocation of a set and be forced to refund customers.
We received our allocation numbers late last week, and they were unfortunately very low. We are receiving only 30% of what we requested, which is the lowest allocation we have ever received for a Magic: The Gathering release.
For transparency, we have had conversations with our distributors to try and understand why that is. We have been told that distributors have received record low amounts of product from WoTC. So low that they struggled to be able to even divide it up equitably. They in turn are trying to have conversations with WoTC to figure out why that is, but as of now we are all in the dark.
As such we will only have a total of __6 sealed Collector Booster Boxes available for purchase__. We are well aware that far more than 6 people will want to buy a sealed box, as I anticipate this set being popular with collectors. We will have an additional 72 Collector Packs for sale in-store, and will not be preordering them.
To make things as fair as possible, we will be holding a draw for the opportunity to purchase a sealed Collector Booster Box from us. Winners will have the chance to secure one Collector Booster Box. If someone declines their opportunity to purchase, we will move down the list of winners until all boxes are claimed. Payment will be due upon notification that you have won, and you will have 2 business days to confirm purchase before we move on to another draw winner.
To enter the draw, simply send us a message on any of our social media platforms. We'll confirm your entry once we've received it. We will start drawing names in ____10 days, __July 29th.__
Collector Booster Box: $849.99
Collector Packs will be one per-person per day to allow as many people an opportunity to enjoy them as we can.
Play Booster Boxes will be available in larger quantities and will not require a draw. That said, we are likely to sell out based on our allocation and we are not certain there will be a restock available.

Please note that all other Hobbit x Magic: The Gathering products will also have lower-than-expected allocations, so quantities will be limited across the board.
Prerelease kits are not affected by this short allocation; we have been allocated a record number of prerelease kits, but also anticipate selling out of them based on the popularity of sign-ups already.
Thank you for your continued support. We realize this isn't optimal for our customers, and it certainly isn't what we had hoped for either. It seems that WoTC really dropped the ball printing this set. Good luck to those entering the draw.
