Saturday Shop 💕

We have a little bistro set outside our shop on the sidewalk. From the moment we put it out it’s been popular with our intended audience - we’ll call them the “reluctant tag alongs”. Often it’s kids or partners who are out and about but not really in the mood to go into a shop (imagine not wanting to spend time in our pretty little shop!)😉 They sit here enjoy the streetscape and often sipping on something from or while their parents or partners get some quality time inside our shop!

Beautifully Dark with Jade Krupa
The Modern Mercantile
Saturday, September 10
4 to 7pm

Jade has created 12 new original pieces for this event. Prints and cards of her previous work will also be available.

Titled Beautifully Dark the theme is based around animals being themselves. Being seen and felt in a different light of animals just being animals!

In Jade’s words:
Movements that other artists and photographers most likely would not necessarily see as “beautiful” but more awkward and probably wouldn't have curb appeal!

I see the world of animals from the animals point of view and not so much human meaning connected to them. For example, the Raven and Crow are seen as spirit guides and used ofted in Tarrot cards and have spiritual meanings associated with them. There is nothing wrong with this at all, but to my artist eye, I see them hopping on one foot, talking loudly and stealing my dogs bone. The Raven and Crow are funny little birds that have a walk and talk that is quite comical. Thats what im catching in my pieces.

The dark side is the mood felt in the colours, backgrounds and honestly the things I am going through personally. I create art to get it all out. This show just started to develop amazing moody pieces.
