The lives of the bears are written into the trees.
When the salmon return in abundance, here on Vancouver Island, the bears carry their catch from the river into forest.
This gives nourishment to the soil. The trees then grow stronger, their rings recording the years when the rivers were generous.
Fish, bear, river, and treeβeach giving life to the next.
This sculpture is a story of the forestβs great circle of life, where nothing is truly separate.
