23 years married. 29 years living life together. ❤️

We’ve built a life I’m incredibly proud of. We had pretty much nothing when we met, and everything we have, we built together. We created and raised two amazing humans, made a home, had adventures, weathered some storms, laughed a lot, grown and changed, and kept choosing each other.

We may not have much by some people’s measure, but I look at this life we’ve made and I feel pretty damn rich.

It hasn’t always been easy, because real life and real relationships aren’t. There have been hard moments and beautiful ones, and everything in between. But when a life is grounded in love, it’s always worth showing up for.

23 years ago we made promises to each other and offerings to the directions and the Creator, surrounded by the land we loved. Choosing each other every day was one of those promises.

And all these years later, I still wouldn’t want to share this life with anyone else.

29 years later, I’d still choose this life with you. ❤️

New vlog! 🎥🌲

I somehow managed to snag one of only 6 campsites on Flowerpot Island! 🤗⛺️

A boat ride across Georgian Bay, exploring the island, the Flowerpots, some camp food and that ridiculously clear water…which obviously I had absolutely no intention of staying out of. 😂🌊

I’ve been making these little video journals so someday I can look back and remember all the places my wandering has taken me. ❤️ And if sharing them makes someone else think, “Well s**t, I need to go there!”…even better! 😂

Small kit. Everything has its place. 👌

Here’s what I carry in my Terrain UL 750ml titanium pot: a small rag for wiping it out, a titanium alcohol stove, a DCF rock throw bag with 50’ of Lawson Equipment UltraGlide bear line, and a mini Bic lighter.

Everything nests inside the pot, then the whole kit slides into either the included drawstring sack or an added DCF stuff sack. Lightweight, simple, and ready to hit the trail. 🌲

If you prefer isobutane, the 750ml will also nest a 100g fuel canister and most standard Pocket Rocket-style stoves.

Titanium pots are also available in 550ml.

Keep it light. Keep it simple. Keep it wild. 🤘

Picked up a few 🌽 from my friend at Hogan's Produce… okay, maybe more than a few. 😂

Prepped and ready for the freezer!

Corn brings back so many memories of my childhood. Labour Day long weekend was often spent with my Nanny at our cottage. There was always a regatta in the community to celebrate the end of summer.

A weekend spent swimming, living in my bathing suit and eating as much corn as I could with butter and corn juice dripping down my arms. 🌽😂 Frog races with the other kids, with my Nanny watching from the beach and cheering me on. Days spent in the water… this is really where I developed my love of the water and made some of those core childhood memories that just stick with you.

I kept enough corn out to enjoy for the rest of the weekend, but I’m already looking forward to the middle of winter when I can pull some from the freezer and get a little taste of my childhood. ❤️

Funny how something as simple as corn on the cob can take you right back.

Back to school! 🍎🌲

I started back to work a few days ago, but today is the first official day of school with my amazing students!

After a summer full of road trips, backpacking, swimming, camping and adventures, it’s time to trade the trail for the classroom… at least during the week. 😂

Looking forward to another year of learning, laughing, getting outside and seeing where this adventure takes us.

Here we go! ❤️

Well… this felt a little foreboding before heading out on a recent trip. 😂🦟

Thankfully my timing was good and the skitters weren’t nearly as big—or bad—enough to carry me away.

Still… kept my pack weight down in case I had to run. 😂🎒

This little pouch has some miles on it. 🥾

My DCF Flat Bottom Zip Pouch is a staple in my pack. Battery bank, phone cord, earphones, headlamp cord, lighter, emergency fire starter, notebook, pencil and mattress pump—it holds all those little things I want to be able to find.

And that patch? You have to earn those miles. 😂🔥

A stray spark put a little hole in it, so I patched it and kept going.

I don’t believe good gear should be disposable. Use it. Get it dirty. Patch it. Repair it. Keep putting miles on it.

The patches just become part of the story.
