2023 Fender Custom Shop LTD Reverse ‘50s Tele Relic

An exciting reimagining of a 1950s Telecaster, this 2023 Reverse ‘50s Tele from Fender’s Custom Shop delivers unique functionality and aesthetics and a refreshing take on the company’s classic design.

This Fender Custom Shop Telecaster takes its “Reverse” designation quite seriously. The guitar features a reverse angle Nocaster bridge and reverse control plate. To top it off, the guitar features a black finish with a white guard, a near opposite to the classic black pickguard over a blond finish typical of an early ‘50s Telecaster.

Priced at $4,795 CAD.

This 1956 LG-3 is completely original, shows very little playwear and is an incredibly fun and responsive guitar to play. It has a comfortable round neck carve with a 1 11/16” nut.

Its pleasantly balanced tone offers a wonderfully woody midrange cut and detail that extends through the trebles and basses.

c. 1940 Gibson SJ-100

This SJ-100 is one only 138 guitars built during the models three-year run between 1939 and 1941. With less than half of total production featuring a moustache bridge, stair step headstock, and 26” scale, this SJ-100 is an incredibly rare instrument.

This example likely dates from early in 1940. It remains in very good condition despite a few notable repairs and presents very well. Playability is excellent thanks to a correct neck angle, newer frets, and a thorough setup here at Folkway.

We have just listed this guitar on our website.

Please call or email the show for more details.

Caught this view of our 1957 Gretsch 6022 Rancher earlier today in the morning light of our front room. Thought to myself that this job sure has its perks!

The Rancher was introduced in 1954 and fit Gretsch’s western brand to a “G”.

Check it out on our website.

Some of the more eclectic pieces from yesterday’s guitar safari….

This collection of Kay Kraft guitars, mandolins, and banjos is a wonderful representation of a bygone age of luthiery in which inexpensive instruments were built to impress.

1966 Gibson ES-125TDC

So clean that you could eat off of it (please don’t put food on your vintage Gibson), this 1966 ES-125TDC is an impressively well-preserved example of a ‘60s Gibson instrument.

The guitar boasts beautiful “opaque” Cherry Sunburst finish that is almost entirely unworn. If you don’t know what we mean by “opaque Cherry Sunburst,” go watch our Friday Facts at Folkway Episode 61. all about ‘60s Sunbursts from a couple of weeks ago!

The pair of original P-90 pickups sound fantastic, and the guitar plays very well with largely unworn original frets.

We’ve just listed this guitar on our website.
