Sharing for ; please visit their IG for complete info. Please nite that WCDSB's April 28 board meeting has been relocated AGAIN (?!?!), back to 35 Weber Street West in Kitchener, where the board usually meets. 👀

Posted • REPOST WITH REVISION: Update as of April 22 on the Waterloo Catholic District School Board (WCDSB)

The next board meeting for the Waterloo Catholic District School Board is happening on April 28, 2025 beginning at 6:00 PM.

UPDATE: Minutes after we posted our earlier update, the WCDSB posted that the meeting would take place at the original location: 35 Weber St. W. This is the same location as our previous protests.

While the meeting starts at 6:00 PM, the earlier you can show the better. As of right now, no counter-protest is announced, but if one arises, we will update you of any time changes.

Lastly, this protest takes place on the same day as the federal election. If you didn’t vote in advanced polls, make sure to leave time before or after the protest to cast your vote! Let’s try to ensure change happens locally and federally to protect our community.

Our community has been showing up with incredible numbers to stand against the proposed ban, and we need to keep showing up until this proposal is removed or struck down.

Can’t come out to the protests?

Another important point from ; please visit their IG for their whole statement.

Posted • In our initial communications, we were too focused on the q***r community and neglected to express the intersectionality of this issue. Upon self reflection and conversations with allies from other communities, we have developed this statement.

Sharing for . Please visit their IG for the whole slideshow. TL;DR: Antizionist Jews hate to see the Holocaust exlploited to justify the genocide in Palestine, and pro-Israel groups like the WR Jewish Community Council and Hillel Waterloo & Laurier don't speak for us.

Posted • On the 80th anniversary of Auschwitz's liberation, IJV-WR reminds Waterloo Region that "Never again" means "Never again for anyone." Our statement continues in the comments.

January 27th is International Holocaust Remembrance Day, designated by the United Nations. This day commemorates the 1945 liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau (the largest N**i death camp) and enjoins us to remember the Holocaust’s victims, who included six million Jews; 500,000 Roma and Sinti; and thousands of others targeted by the N**is, including leftists, disabled people, and q***r people.

We, the members of Independent Jewish Voices’ Waterloo Region (IJV-WR) chapter, believe remembering the Holocaust requires us to prevent genocide from happening again: That is why we have spent the past fifteen months protesting the Israeli government’s attacks on Gaza. Israeli bombings alone have killed more than 70,000 Palestinians, including Sally and Dalia Ghazi Ibaid, who were supposed to enter a doctoral program at the University of Waterloo in December 2024, and Sofyan Taya, a former visiting professor at UW. The IDF has caused hundreds of thousands of additional deaths by destroying Gaza’s healthcare system and blocking humanitarian aid; it has also displaced 90 percent of Gaza’s residents; reduced most of the region’s buildings to rubble; orphaned 20,000 children; and obliterated almost all of Gaza's schools and universities. The IDF and Israeli settlers continue to carry out pogroms in the West Bank. [Continued]

Posted • Sally and Dalia.

Twin sisters from Gaza, they were admitted to the University of Waterloo’s PhD program in Systems Design Engineering through the Palestinian Students & Scholars At Risk (PSSAR) initiative.

Sally and Dalia were killed in an Israeli airstrike on civilians during the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Their lives ended before they could even begin their journey.

The University of Waterloo, the very institution that accepted them, is complicit in their murder. Waterloo’s partnerships with Technion, its investments in weapons manufacturers, and its silence make it an accomplice in the systems of genocide and settler colonialism that murdered Sally and Dalia. Waterloo’s hands are drenched in blood, their blood.

We rage. We grieve. We demand justice.

Sally and Dalia deserved life. They deserved to fulfill their dreams, to seek education and to live in freedom. We will never forget them. We will fight for a world where their memory fuels liberation. A world where universities no longer profit from genocide.

Divest now. End complicity. Honour their names with action.

Glory to Sally and Dalia. Glory to the martyrs.

This is a letter i sent the Waterloo Regon Record on Oct. 4 in response to Luisa D'Amato's Oct. 3 column conflating hate speech and pro-Palestine protest at UW. The paper hasn't published my letter, but they did run one from an H*nest Reporting Canada staffer today. 🤔
