MYTH vs. REALITY 🏠

What’s one thing you wish your home could do automatically?

MYTH: “A smart home has to be complicated.”

REALITY: A properly designed smart home should actually make life simpler.

Think about it.

You shouldn't need to remember which app controls the lights, which remote controls the TV, or how to get your music playing in the right room.

Your technology should work together.

Lights.
Shades.
Music.
TV & Audio.
Climate.
Security.

The goal isn't to add more technology just for the sake of having it.

It's to make the technology you already have work better together—and work around the way you actually live.

That's where good design makes all the difference.

Sonos has just announced two new additions to its Ultra lineup and both are now available for pre-order.

🔊 Beam Ultra
A completely redesigned compact soundbar with true 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos, improved dialogue, stronger bass and the ability to grow into a full Sonos home theatre system. Sonos says it maintains a footprint nearly the same size as the current Beam.

🎧 Ace Ultra
Sonos' next-generation wireless headphones, with up to 35 hours of battery life with ANC enabled, adaptive EQ, spatial audio, lossless audio and up to twice the active noise cancellation of the original Ace.

And the really interesting part?

The Ace Ultra is designed to work even more closely with the Sonos ecosystem, including the ability to move your TV audio between your Sonos system and headphones.

Both products are available for pre-order now, with Canadian availability expected September 29.

MYTH vs. REALITY 🔊

MYTH: “If I want better sound from my TV, I just need a soundbar.”

REALITY: A soundbar can be a great solution but it isn't automatically the best solution for every room.

Think about it this way: would you design the same sound system for a small living room as you would for a dedicated home theatre?

Probably not.

The size and shape of the room, your seating position, how you use the space, and the kind of experience you're looking for all play a role in determining what makes sense.

Sometimes the right answer is a soundbar.

Sometimes it's a soundbar and subwoofer.

And sometimes, a properly designed surround or Dolby Atmos system can completely change the way you experience your movies, sports and music.

At Gibson Sound & Vision, we don't believe in putting the same solution in every room. We design the system around the room, and around you.

Because great sound isn't about having more speakers.

How high should your TV actually be mounted?

This is one of those questions that seems like it should have a simple answer.

And while 60" to the center of the screen is a great starting point, it's not necessarily the right height for every home.

Your TV size, seating position, furniture, room layout, and how you use the space all make a difference.

At Gibson Sound & Vision, we don't believe in simply putting a TV on the wall and calling it done. The installation should make sense for the room—and feel right when you're actually sitting down and watching it.

MYTH vs. REALITY 📺

Myth:
"If my TV is under a covered patio, I can use any TV outdoors."

Reality:
Outdoor environments are much tougher on electronics than indoor spaces.

Here in Ontario, an outdoor TV may have to deal with:

☀️ Direct or reflected sunlight
💧 Moisture and humidity
🌡️ Extreme temperature changes
❄️ Cold weather
💨 Dust and outdoor conditions

A regular indoor TV simply isn't designed with those conditions in mind.

Purpose-built outdoor televisions are designed for specific outdoor environments, with considerations for weather resistance, temperature ranges, brightness and visibility.

And there's another important consideration: where the TV is being installed matters.

A covered patio, three-season room and fully exposed outdoor space can require very different solutions.
