Did you know that fall is a great time to plant a tree here in Zone 3? That rhymes 😎

We’ve just launched our tree and shrub order form to help make it happen for you. Tell us what you’re after, whether it’s something you can take home and plant today from the Tree Yard, something you’d rather order in for fall, or something you want to reserve ahead for spring 2027. We’ll do our best to find it for you! Link in comments.

Martial wanted to introduce everyone to Wally the Black Walnut, planted a few weeks ago in our own front yard. It’s been “a plan” for a while and he finally made it happen!

(And no judgement please on the rest of the yard. We let that shrub turn into its own little forest over the past five years, and although it was magical, it is officially time for a front yard makeover. But… one thing at a time.)

Hi it’s summer and we’re checking in from Green Acres 💚

We’ve filled up our display deck with easy grab-and-go plants and pots, making it even easier to stop by while you’re out and about.

🌿 Green Acres is open daily from 1–5pm
🍦 Papa T’s Ice Cream is open 1–9pm all summer long.

We’ve got lots of exciting ideas brewing behind the scenes for the seasons ahead… but for now, we’re taking a cue from the sunshine and slowing down just a little.

So if you’re looking for a plant, an ice cream, or simply a reason to enjoy a beautiful Saskatchewan afternoon, we’d love to see you.

See you soon at Green Acres! 💚

Little story time from Martial:

Waaaaaay back on February 25th, I seeded some Lisianthus as kind of a trial to see how well I could grow them. Lisianthus are notoriously SLOW growers and tough to germinate, and boy were they ever. But I tried it anyway. By comparison, I seeded our Pansies and Violas the exact same day, and they flowered over 2 months earlier. Lisianthus though, are stunning and worth the wait. They look similar to a rose and have an incredible long vase life.

It was fun growing them and a labour of love, but now, on our last day of full hours, I’m putting them out on the bench for sale! While they STILL aren’t quite flowering yet, they are so so close!

So for anyone who loves Lisianthus, wants to add a little more to their garden, or just wants to experience the beauty of them, stop in and grab one!

Reminder: our sale still continues for one more day with 30% off all single, 4 packs, and 6 pack annuals! We are closed tomorrow but stay tuned for our limited July hours.

Papa T’s will be open tomorrow 1-9pm and all summer!

Today we had our annual visit from Terry Folkers from HJS Wholesale, our supplier for pots, plastic trays, soil and more. HJS plays a major role in helping Green Acres operate season after season 💚

We first met Terry at New Blooms in 2023 during Martial's first year working alongside Mel. Right away, Terry was willing to cheer us on and share his knowledge, helping us understand one of the many pieces of the greenhouse business puzzle.

Every year, Terry shows up with his display trailer and helps Martial “shop" for the following season. He walks through our inventory, helps evaluate what worked well, and makes recommendations that help ensure we're bringing in quality products at prices that make sense for both us and our customers.

As first-time business owners, having relationships with people who genuinely care about your success makes all the difference. Terry has been one of those people and we appreciate having him in our corner.

The craziest part? This means we’re already planning for next season 😅🌱

Meet the Green Acres Team 💚

Oleksandra is one of our dedicated waterers, and while it might not be the most glamorous job at the greenhouse, it’s one of the most important. She works through the heat, the humidity, and the occasional pair of wet shoes, making sure every plant gets the care they need. She is incredibly meticulous, taking the time to ensure each pot is looked after before moving on to the next one.

What stands out most about Oleksandra, though, is her smile. No matter the task, she always seems to have a positive attitude and a warmth that brightens the greenhouse.

While we’re grateful to have her as part of the Green Acres team, we know her heart is also with her home in Ukraine. We hope for the day when she can be reunited with family, friends, and the place she loves 🇺🇦

Today happens to be Oleksandra’s last day with us for the season, so we wanted to take a moment to say thank you for another wonderful year.

We’ll miss seeing that smile around the greenhouse, and we wish her all the best until we meet again next season 💚
