I got to spend some time with Fahim Raza and Leilani Pulsifer from the BC Tech Transfer Program out at one of our bee yards over the weekend. They are doing some research on hygienic hives and looking to identify a gene which is connected to hygienic behaviours. Interesting weekend and I wish I had more time to spend with them as they carry a wealth of knowledge!

It’s generally 10 days from when my Apricots bloom till we go into pollination for Cherries. If we go with that we are in for the earliest pollination season we have experienced. The earliest we have gone in prior years was April 10th. Fingers crossed there’s no more hard frost!!!
