The retail industry is one of the first sectors to be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s likely that the sector will also be the last to emerge from the economic crisis that ensues. Indeed, we will have to wait not just for the end of confinement but also for the easing of public health restrictions and notably the return of consumer confidence.
So, what does the future hold for shopping? Shopping in a physical mall is more than a transaction---it’s a feeling of being with others, a need to see, touch and smell, the immediate satisfaction of trying and bringing home your purchase. We want to ensure that we understand the needs of mall shoppers, no matter how many people are around or what restrictions are in place. The aim of this survey is to understand the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on consumers' attitudes towards shopping. What are shoppers’ new expectations?
This survey is carried out by opendoor.store, a new application that helps malls, retailers and consumers return to their activities efficiently and safely. The survey is completely anonymous, and the results will help malls and retailers understand how to accommodate shoppers in this new reality.
