Good morning, neighbors. It’s me again, Therese, from Sewsonew
and I just opened the doors at The Shop Next Door.
Every Sunday, I try to do a little bit of social media work on the local pages. I don’t always remember, and although I’m managing to bluff my way through the tech stuff, I’m not very good at it. But then, I’m not really taking this whole thing very seriously. Truly, it’s only just a little bit more than a hobby.
For those of you that don’t know, I’m a bit of an old girl, all retired from my big girl jobs and now I have a sewing room full of unloved clothing and beautiful gifted fabric as well as tons of ribbon, lace, notions, and trim waiting to be used up.
I try really hard not to buy anything at the secondhand shops, not always successful, but I’m on a mission to use up what I have in that sewing room whether it be by sewing up fabulous one of a kind outfits for you all to see or to use some of it for my own creations and then I’ll be gifting a lot of it away over the next little while. As it is, I don’t see a light at the end of the tunnel just yet and I don’t want to be doing this in my 80s.
That being said, I struggle with pricing my items because I know the amount of time and effort that’s gone into it, but I also don’t want to charge so much that people don’t want to buy what I have here in the shop.
So I’m trying something new. Today while I’m in the shop, every one of my handmade pieces will be offered for a 20% discount.
Come on by for a visit at 1187 Johnson Road. If you get here before 2 PM, you can enjoy some delicious food next-door at the five corners Café.
