We had a little production interuption while Anita decided to rebuild and change the grease on her 30 quart mixer.
It seems to have been put together satisfactorily so well get mixing and baking and cooking again so we'll be already for Thursday.

Nothing like the Civic Holiday weekend to remind us how quickly summer is going and fall is approaching.
If you're thinking ahead to fall meals and filling your freezer nows a good time to get your 10 pound boxes of chicken pieces or put some whole roasting chickens away for the days we aren't refusing to use the oven.In the meantime we have lots of grill friendly chicken too. What a week it has been to try to get things done, keep up with demand, and stay sane and healthy.
Our farm store shop is just the public facing side of our family business and theres so much more going on than what can be seen. We look after all aspects of production. From picking up our chicks the day they hatch, to looking after the animals every day for their entire life, to transporting them for processing. Then picking up the meat from the licenced abbatoir, back to our facility for packaging, labeling storing and retailing. We grow and harvest our own hay, and this year we are growing some of the grain crops that will be used in their feed so theres planting and harvesting to add to the schedule. This week there was a holiday, but our chickens still had to go for processing and be picked up on the regular days. Throw in an extreme heat event where let's face it, none of us wanted to do anything. Our only air conditioning is in our refrigerated van. Not in the barn, not in the store, not in the house. And all of this the week that has more customers than ever not wanting to be in their kitchens, looking for prepared meals, meat pies, baked goods and, especially, scones.
Anita does as much work as possible during the night including just opening up the farm shop to move air through at night when its cool. But this week we've just not been able to do it all. Our regular scone bake just wasnt enough, and its been snapped up on Friday so there are no scones at market today. There will be minimal baking in Wiarton today.
We really hate to disappoint people , we are always happy to take name and contact info and hold your scone order for you. So you know you're set for the weekend. Just message here and we'll let you know if its not going to work otherwise we'll set them aside for you.
The weather promises to even out a little but summers hot for us regardless. Thank you for all your support and kindness and please know everyday we try our best.
