World elder abuse awareness is set for June 15...June 15 is designated as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day by the United Nations General Assembly, and it represents one day in the year when the whole world voices its opposition to all forms of Elder abuse. Elder abuse can take various forms such as physical, psychological or emotional, sexual and financial abuse. It can also be the result of intentional or unintentional neglect.

Rituals. In this post the focus is ritual gifting. Ritual gifting is best known for the Christmas season. I don't know if you're okay to be talking about Christmas in June, however, it's the most busiest of all ritual gifting.

The Xmas season brings lots of stress to people shopping for their loved ones or even for people who will receive their gift for whatever reason.

The reason, as the quote suggests, is the happiest people are gifters. What do you think? Are you happy when you buy a gift for someone in your immediate relative radius? Too early to be talking about Xmas? I encourage you to contemplate the following quote and is it something you believe as well? Let's have a conversation, eh.

Gifting. I'll start from you as the giver. To place this conversation into context, there are four tiers of gifting including the giver, the receiver, the occasion, and the gift.

As the giver, you're building from your own unique talents and gifts. You were given a gift specifically for you and no one else has what you've been given by creation, by being here in physical form.

In the teachings of the turtle sits capability. Everyone has capability. In the capability is the gift. The ultimate gift from creation. This might explain why gift giving is a univeral act of being human. Like I said earlier, it's built into us, all of us.

Gifting is said to be wrapped around self-worth. What you think your worth is to yourself and others? Apparently, this determines your form of gifting and the many ways gifting is carried out. One more thing. The children are learning in their own way of the ritual or spontaneous act of gifting. Check it out. Let's have a conversation. Ekosani (Thank you).

Father. I missed the Mother's Day campaign period. Nevertheless, it is still not too late for Father's Day (June 19th) gifting.

Gifting is one of our original instructions. This becomes even more clear as we age out of the body...and return to spirit. Indigenous peoples have been using gifting as a way of life for over 199,500 years. The message has always been clear. No one takes anything with them when it's time to return to spirit form. Instead gifting, planned or not, occurs in their various ways according to the geographic location of the community.

Gifting is well documented in the western nations. Potlatch was practiced for thousands of years, as well as, giveaways. Giveaways are a form of gifting and may or may not be associated with the ideas of social reciprocity.

Rather than just reading or talking about let's help the community step on the stones forward to what gifting is and expand the idea out to upcoming holidays, BD's, anniversaries, and special events. Ekosani

Perfect gift! The psychology of gift giving. Gifts make the recipient happy or happier and the the giftee gets to strengthen the relationship. It's not easy buying gifts. There's a whole science behind it if we want to do it right. What is the right way? It is like asking how many types of snow flakes there are?

Consider the four possibilities of gift giving on a quadrant. In the north is unthoughtful, the east is desired, the south is thoughtful, and west is undesired. Getting gifts that are thoughtful and desired is not always easy. Do you remember the last time you bought a gift for someone and you can tell buy the expression and other signals that the present was thoughtful but undesired? For me, far too many times.

It's not christmas yet. However, christmas is when buying gifts is off the charts! This is a good time to start preparing for it....

Choosing gifts can be stressful and anxiety-inducing. Thankfully, psychologists have some advice, based on decades of research, on how to side-step such pitfalls.

Happier. Happiness is an emotion that can be manufactured at will. You can feel happy anytime you want. Here's some good news. Once you reach the age of 55 and older science indicates more happiness than any other age group.

What? You mean happiness is a choice! Of course I'm being facetious here to make a point and not to insult your intelligence.

Tansi. Hello. As shared in the previous post, I'm happy you decided to join this group. If what I am about to share helps you in making a decision to stick around then I say, ekosani (thank you) for the opportunity.

There is a purpose for this group that extends beyond the walls of this page. For far too long this population (kiiseayak) has been dismissed more often than not. Yet, the push and pull continues. Nevertheless, technology enables an opportunity to expand on the three aspects that make gifting grandparents different or unique are habitude, gratitude, and plenitude. Most kiiseayak already know their inlfuence in the family circle. Using kiiseayak presence to teach, feel and expand on the three distinquishing pillars suggested.

Allow me to expand on the word Kiiseayak. In the rockyland cree language, it means the elderly. The seniors. Your later years of physical life, literally translated. Most kiiseayak feel the urge to help through gifting often referred to as kin gifting. Other related concepts include corporate gifting and giveaways in there various forms and meanings. Gifting is an original instruction. Something kiiseayak intuitively know about. I don't have rights to the image. The message of love and courage and teachings of kiiseayak wisdom.
