The Station House Gallery invites you to visit our October exhibitions on display now through October 24th at the Station House Gallery! ✨
In the lower gallery, local artist Christy Richardson presents ‘Form & Fire’. Christy’s lifelong passion for clay has evolved through sculptural hand building, wheel thrown pottery, and an ongoing exploration of glaze chemistry and firing techniques. Working from her home studio at Rose Lake, she is drawn to organic forms, lines, patterns and textures found in nature, and to the rich vibrant colour of the Cariboo’s rich landscapes.
For Christy, working with clay is an adventure. Through stretching and modelling, and the discipline of monitoring the development of each piece through the processes of drying, glazing, and firing, it becomes part of who she is. Her work continues to evolve as she explores the endless possibilities of clay.
In the upper gallery, local artist Kendal Anderson presents ‘The Ghosts of the Cariboo‘! Kendal Anderson is a Williams Lake-based painter whose work explores entropy and the lingering nature of human experience. Drawing on a background in psychology and fine arts from the University of British Columbia, her paintings often blur the line between observation and speculation.
In her series The Ghosts of the Cariboo, Anderson documents abandoned places throughout the region, preserving them as single snapshots in time. Through vivid colour and rich texture, she transforms these landscapes into haunting, luminous works that carry the feeling of a half-remembered fever dream, an encounter with what remains, suggesting the quiet myths that gather around places left to time and the mysteries that seem to inhabit them.
Open Tuesday to Saturday 10am – 5pm, in the historic train station at the foot of Oliver Street. #1 Mackenzie Avenue North Williams Lake. Always free admission to visit!
