Thank you to everyone for helping us fundraise for our 89th anniversary piece. We really appreciate your support.

07 | The bezels have been each individually aligned and soldered in place to match the curvature of the ring. Now I need to go and file away the bottoms of the bezels that protrude below the top of the ring before setting the fancy coloured diamonds. Although beautiful, any fancy cut gemstones that come to a point are significantly more fragile at those points, so I will be setting them first and modifying the point of the bezel to support the point of each of the coloured diamonds. Then I will set the white diamonds that I have done all of the pre-cutting and preparing the settings for. After they are all set, it will be just a final light sanding and polish where needed, and it will be finished!

06 | Because of platinum’s extremely high soldering temperature, the diamonds cannot be set before the bezels are soldered in, but the small diamond settings need to be completely finished before the bezels are soldered in. So this stage, is preparing all of the diamond settings (removing all material, leaving only what will be used to form the prongs to hold the diamonds in their seats). The ring and bezels will need to be pre-polished before soldering as there are areas we will not be able to reach to polish after they are soldered in.
