New to the Used Book Room πŸ“š
We're pleased to offer an important small collection of scholarly texts examining the slave trade. More than 15 million men, women and children were the victims of the trans-atlantic slave trade, one of the darkest chapters in human history.
June 19th (Juneteenth) is celebrated annually on June 19 to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States. πŸ•Š

As monumental as the book is, all the action takes place on just one day: June 16th.

If you haven't gotten your hands on a copy of Caro Claire Burke's novel YESTERYEAR yet, this is a post to let you know we have limited copies back in stock. But if you have read it: might we suggest Elaine Feeney's LET ME GO MAD IN MY OWN WAY? It's a gripping novel that starts with the crushing, menial reality of a struggling author in rural Ireland who finds herself entraced by the tradwife content that Natalie peddles at the start of YESTERYEAR, and becomes a multigenerational story about the political and psychological violence experienced by the generations of women that came before her. We have lots in stock!

We're open until 9pm tonight and 5pm tomorrow, so drop by. πŸ’«

New to the Used Book Room!
Freshly arrived is a beautiful first UK edition of J.R.R. Tolkien's translations of SIR GAWAIN AND THE GREEN KNIGHT, PEARL and SIR ORFEO! Not to be confused with Tolkien's much earlier translation of Sir Gawain, these are modern verse translations of three Middle English texts (all written around 14th century) into Modern English, together with Tolkien's own commentaries. A wonderful item for lovers of Arthurian legend and the great J.R.R. Tolkien.
