Calling all car spotters! Holland Consignment Shoppe, located at the corner of Ottawa and Moy and serving Windsorites for 20 years, needs your help…
This past Saturday night/Sunday morning at approximately 2:30am, a late model 2024/25 black Ford pickup truck, believed to be an F-150, ran off the road and into our building, causing extensive damage to multiple windows and the frame infrastructure that holds them in place. We believe the cost to replace these windows will be anywhere from $2000 to $4000, depending on how the damage is assessed by the glass company. Sadly, this amount will come straight out of our pockets, as our insurance requires a $5000 deductible (the insurer's decision, not ours!). Worse yet, this is just one in a series of broken windows we have incurred over the years, from 13 breakins, many more attempted break-ins, bar fights, etc, which we have had to fund from our own paycheques- I would estimate at least 20 windows over the years, costing anywhere from $800 per door replacement to $2500 per window replacement, and this one will likely be the highest replacement cost so far…
There were a few witnesses in the area who saw parts of the incident, and we have cobbled together the following clues- in the crash, a pair of black plastic front bumper guards were displaced from the vehicle, as well as a partial licence plate holder from Performance Ford (Rafih Auto Group). Numerous neighbours in the area have told us that this specific vehicle has haunted Ottawa St. on a regular basis for at least the last few months, usually around bar close time, revving his engine, racing up and down the streets, doing donuts at intersections and squealing tires.
We are asking the car spotter community to dig deep, and help us find this culprit. We work too hard to continually donate all our pay to replacing windows and replacing items stolen from us in the middle of the night by cowardly thieves. It is time to bring these ignorant a*holes to justice, and have them face the consequences of their actions. Any information the community can provide, from a licence plate number to the sighting of a suspicious late model pickup truck in your neighbourhood with newly visible damage to the front end will be helpful in determining who did this.
We have spent our career as a family-operated small business helping Windsorites settle their estates and their parents' estates, and now, we need your help. As we approach retirement age, it becomes harder and harder to justify these costs and the aggravation of dealing with thieves and druggies and bad apples in general. Please help us restore our faith in our community by PM'ing us any info you may have! Thanks in advance from the Hollands…
