I scored some spalted Birch logs from my friend Joe. After a bit of chainsaw work, I came out with 37 nice sized bowl blanks. A little anchor seal and some creative stacking and my drying shed has been refilled.

Now to get to work on the dry stuff for the Christmas Markets. I have 3 scheduled for November.
University Women’s Club of Winnipeg on 6-7 Nov
Baby it’s Cold Outside (Access centre) 22 Nov
And the St Charles Catholic School Fair on 28 Nov.

Here are a few of my recent commissions. A covered bowl made of Baltic Birch plywood and Sapele. And a couple of batches of Salt Pigs( aka salt cellar)made of black Cherry and Sapele, or Spalted Beech and Sapele.

Another order filled. Four salt pigs(aka salt cellars). These are Black Cherry bowls with Sapele lids and Burr Oak scoops. They are about 6 inches in diameter x 3.5 inches high.

I’ve been busy working on commissions lately.

The first is a covered, Baltic Birch and Sapele bowl. It’s about 8 3/4 inches(23 cm) at its widest point and 8 1/2 inches (22 cm) high with the lid on.

The second set of photos are of 1 of 6 salt pigs (aka salt cellar) that I have been commissioned to make for Christmas presents. It’s about 6 inches (15 cm) wide by 4 1/2 inches (11 cm) high. It’s made out of Black Cherry with a walnut lid and Black Cherry scoop.

Papa’s been in production mode for a while, getting ready for another craft sale, in Gimli on Saturday, 1 Aug. I also have3 puzzle easels under construction for the show.

The bowl is my first attempt at using epoxy in a bowl. This is a Black Cherry bowl with epoxy in the bottom and side of the bowl.

The rustic mushrooms are made from a Saskatoon berry tree. The smooth mushrooms are a mixture of Elm and Box Elder(Manitoba Maple).
